Those hoping for another Nicole Kidman Oscar look will have to wait another year. After much speculation, the Babygirl actress chose not to attend tonight’s Academy Awards.
Kidman and her film Babygirl were famously shut out from this year’s Oscars. The snub surprised many in the industry. She wasn’t seen at the Vanity Fair Oscar Party after the ceremony, either.
That’s not to say she hasn’t been busy. Kidman attended the TIME 2025 Women of the Year Gala on February 25 in Los Angeles.
And the first trailer for her next project, Holland, also dropped last week.
Kidman’s constant projects have led some to say the longtime star is having a moment. She doesn’t see this as a fleeting period in her career. The star told CBS News, “I’m just me. But I think ‘cause I’ve had so many years of so many different things happening and I’m fully cognizant of where I am, I’m wide awake. I’m in this world. I’m curious, and grateful, and amazed. I love the word wonder, ‘cause I still have a lot of wonder, and a lot of excitement about what’s to come.”
When Vanity Fair asked her about her unpredictable career a month before, she gave a similar response. Turns out, she really is just enjoying the ride: “I have been crazy in life, so whatever happens, it comes out in many different ways,” she said. “I feel things intensely. I read a lot. I’m raising a family. I’m a wife, I’m a sister. I’ve got all these friends. I’m moving through the journey of life.”
She continued: “It can be really hard, especially if you’re very present and emotional and in it. And then there’s an enormous amount of sheer joy. That was one of the greatest pieces of advice I was ever given once: Don’t think ahead to something bad happening. Stay in the moment when it’s good, because you need to nourish during that time. You will have the fortitude to ride out when it’s not. If you’re already not allowing in the nourishment of the joy and the good times, that’s the wrong way to live.”
