In a statement published on May 30, Gigi and Bella Hadid confirmed that they have a younger half-sister: Aydan Nix, a 23-year-old creative based in New York City. “Over 20 years ago, our dad, while single, had a brief relationship that led to a pregnancy,” the sisters said per Daily Mail. They also shared that they first connected with Nix after she discovered a biological link through genetic testing.

“Aydan was born and raised in Florida, growing up with the man she lovingly knew as her father until his sudden passing when she was 19. After his passing, she decided to take a genetic test out of curiosity, and that’s how she discovered a biological connection to us,” they continued.

“We first connected in late 2023, and from that moment on, we’ve embraced Aydan with open arms. She’s spent time with all of us, including our dad, and we’ve cherished this unexpected and beautiful addition to our family.”

“As siblings, we’ve had many open and loving conversations—with Aydan included—about how to support and protect her,” they continued. “Aydan and her family value their privacy, and we fully respect that. We kindly ask others to do the same and honor her wish and right to her anonymity as she continues her life as a young woman in New York.”

Nix has shared a little about her life publicly though. Here’s what we know so far about her.

She graduated from Parsons School of Design in May 2025.

On May 16, Nix graduated with a BFA in Integrated Design from Parsons School of Design in Manhattan. According to her LinkedIn profile, she majored in Fine and Studio Arts and took part in a summer study abroad program at Parsons Paris. Her creative work spans editorial styling, branding, and cultural storytelling.

Her fashion experience includes styling, showroom work, and vintage sales.

Nix’s resume reflects a broad background in fashion and creative direction. She wrote that she has interned with photographers and stylists, assisted with red carpet looks and editorial shoots, and worked with set styling. During her studies, she also held a job as a commissioned sales associate at Harley’s, a vintage boutique in New York.

On her LinkedIn page, she shared that “my work blends editorial styling, branding, and cultural storytelling through a multidisciplinary lens, shaped by hands-on experience in fashion, costume design, and visual media.”

She grew up in Florida and only learned about her connection to the Hadids recently.

Nix was born and raised in Orlando, Florida, and attended a local prep school where she was an honors student and cheerleader, per Daily Mail. According to the family’s statement, she grew up “with the man she lovingly knew as her father until his sudden passing when she was 19.”

It was after his death that she decided to take a genetic test “out of curiosity,” which ultimately revealed her connection to the Hadids.

Gigi and Bella have asked for privacy on her behalf.

In their joint statement, the Hadid sisters emphasized that Nix and her family “value their privacy” and requested that others “honor her wish and right to her anonymity as she continues her life as a young woman in New York.”

As of now, Mohamed Hadid has not spoken publicly about being Aydan’s father, though Daily Mail and other outlets report that he has maintained a private relationship with her and follows her on Instagram along with Gigi and Bella.

While Nix’s entry into the public eye is recent, she appears to be focused on continuing to build her career on her own terms. On her Instagram post from graduation day on May 21, she wrote: “WTF………. post grad ……..”

An insider speaking with Us Weekly explained why it took a little time to introduce Nix to the world.

“Bella, Gigi and Anwar have met Ayden and have been in touch with her for about a year and a half now,” said the source. “They have welcomed her with open arms and are fully embracing her as their sibling.”

The insider explained it was a “complete shock to the whole family.”

“They kept this news a secret for the sake of Ayden’s privacy,” they continued. “The Hadid sisters and Anwar have tried to not pass judgment about the situation.”

To start, there were “a lot of questions,” but the siblings remained “positive” and “open-minded.”

“The family wanted to keep things private until Ayden was ready. Gigi and Bella have given her space but are always warm and there for her if she wants to get in touch or see them,” the source added. “They don’t see each other often and haven’t spent much time together. Ayden has a lot in common with Bella and Gigi and they have bonded over NYC and the fashion industry. She looks up to the girls a lot.”

As for Mohamed Hadid, his relationship with Nix has been a “slow burn.”

“Mohamed took accountability and shared the news to the family and that is when they all connected as a whole,” the source stated. “Mohamed isn’t close with Ayden but is there for her. They are all figuring things out.”
