Things To Do In London This Weekend: June 8-10

Einstein’s theory of relativity states that time is not a constant concept. A hypothesis we’re on board with, as we’re pretty sure it explains how World Gin Day can last, erm, four days. Whatever. All we know is that from Thursday to Sunday, a super-handy £10 digital pass entitles you to bespoke gin cocktails in 75 of the finest bars across London – including Callooh Callay, Oriole, Untitled, Nightjar and Original Sin – for just £6 a go. There are also plenty of juniper-laced pop-ups, parties, tastings... Meaning that for next four days, sobriety is also a relative concept, Mr Einstein.

It’s fair to say that car parks have had one helluva rebrand. So much so that ‘parking a car’ is pretty much the last thing you think to do in them, behind drinking, dancing, watching gigs and theatre – and now seeing art installations, taking part in screen-printing and photography workshops, and getting massage treatments. Because this weekend, the mother of all multi-storeys, Peckham Levels, opens all seven of its floors for the first time. Across Levels 1-4, Peckham Levels artists showcase their work, collaborate on events and open their studios to the public; on Levels 5-6 you’ll find the usual food and drink marvels; and on LevelSix you’re in for taster yoga sessions, free acupuncture and massage sessions. And on no levels will you come across stationary Ford Fiestas. Fact.

How’s this for a supergroup of party starters: Adam Beyer b2b Carl Cox, Nina Kraviz, Tale of Us, Dixon b2b Ame… They’ve come together to transfer their collective mayhem-starting expertise to the green yet industrial-feeling space of Boston Manor Park, with yet more bleeding-edge acts such as Len Faki and Joy Orbison coming for the ride. Surely London’s most headsy one-dayer, you’ll love it if you’re all about the beats, the whole beats and nothing but the beats.

There’s only one thing we love more than an event with a pun-derful title. And that’s an event with a pun-derful title that not only references our favourite elephant-dung-drinking survivalist (brilliant), but also involves a foodie exchange programme between flamed-meat maestros Pitt Cue and hot new craft brewery Two Tribes KX. On Friday and Saturday, Pitt Cue's Devonshire St restaurant plays host to Two Tribes, serving up Middle Eastern kebabs alongside specially brewed beers. Then on Sunday, it’s up to King’s Cross for the return leg, with Pitt Cue cooking up meat-topped soughdoughs over the brewery’s wood-fired grills. In fact, the only thing that could make all this any better would be bumping into Bear Grylls at Beer Grills. The dream.

Things are always better when you’re high, wouldn’t you say? (In terms of eating, drinking and dancing on a rooftop, we mean. Not sure what you were thinking.) And with that in mind, we bring you Summer Sound on the Roof – happening right in the middle of Oxford Street. Atop the John Lewis store, in fact, where the rooftop garden has been transformed into a hotbed of live music and DJs, featuring three immersive studio spaces and sets by the likes of DJ Max (this Friday) and Conor Scott and Jamie Roche (Saturday). What’s more, Fever Tree is hosting mixing masterclasses in honour of World Gin Day on Saturday, and there’s buttermilk-fried chicken care of Rivington St stars Butchie all week long. High times, indeed...
