Friends left our TV screens 17 years ago, but later this week its characters are returning for a reunion that people have been anticipating ever since the curtains came down on the Warner Brothers California studio set in 2004.

The reunion marks the first time in as many years that all six of the lead characters, Jennifer Aniston, Matt Le Blanc, David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry, Lisa Kudrow and Courteney Cox have appeared on screen together.

Individually, most of the cast have remained in the public eye since the end of Friends. Aniston is still as famous as she ever was and even reached a career milestone in 2020 with a SAG award (the first since she won one as part of the ensemble cast for Friends in 1996) with her role in The Morning Show. Kudrow appeared opposite Steve Carrell in 2020's Space Force and Courteney Cox led her own sitcom Cougar Town for six years. As for the male leads, last year Schwimmer fronted a Sky show Intelligence, Le Blanc took over hosting duties of Top Gear for three years and Perry was cast in the upcoming Don't Look Up movie with Leonardo DiCaprio, Jennifer Lawrence and Ariana Grande.

But there are other cast favourites that we are much more familiar with from our sixth loop of watching Friends reruns from start to finish on Netflix. Who can forget the faces of James Michael Tyler, who played Central Perk barista Gunther, and Maggie Wheeler, aka Chandler's inescapable screechy ex-girlfriend Janice, both of whom will be joining the Friends reunion this week?

To refresh our memories and get excited for the reunion, here's what all the cast have been up to ever since Friends came to a close...
