How Accurate Is The Crown? Real-Life Pictures From The Royal Series

The Crown, now with a fourth season scheduled for release over the weekend, has emerged as one of Netflix's most admired, acclaimed and anticipated shows.

It's success is down to a range of factors; The phenomenal talent (Claire Foy then Olivia Colman, Matt Smith then Tobias Menzies - you get the drift), how beautifully shot the series is (it's reportedly one of the streaming services most expensive series) and the stories about what goes on behind closed doors of the world's most famous families.

One question viewers often have is, How accurate is The Crown? Well, it's a mix. Some of the events have run with an artistic license, others are based on one-off newspaper reports or rumours from the time, but the show also has a historical consultant who advises on the narrative.

Some events though, did happen. How do we know this? Well, because there's photographic and video footage as proof.

Season 4: The Queen at Trooping The Colour
