Who Will Be Meghan Markle And Prince Harry's Baby's Godparents?

Jessica and Ben Mulroney appear to be an obvious choice for the Sussex Duke and Duchess’ future baby. Not only were the Mulroney children all part of the Royal Wedding in May, with the twins Brian and John becoming a crowd favourite due to their excited expressions, but Jessica has long been Meghan’s BFF and stylist, and flew out to Australia after Meghan announced her pregnancy.

Long-rumoured to be the woman who set up the couple (her ex-husband Alexander Gilkes went to school with both Prince William and Harry), designer Misha Nonoo could well be in for a gilded position. Nono has frequently holidayed with the now-Royal, and dressed her for her first appearance as Prince Harry’s girlfriend in her aptly named ‘Husband Shirt’.

Another couple whose child was part of the Duke and Duchess’ wedding, Zoe and Jake Warren are two of the Prince’s closest friends. Jake himself was Lady Diana’s godson and he and Harry attended school together.

After meeting at a 2014 charity 'Beach Bowl’, the Americans have been firm friends, constantly speaking highly of each other in the press. Contributing to a Vogue cover story on Williams, Markle explained of the tennis pro, 'She will be an amazing mum. The very best, because she is so attuned to balancing strength and sensitivity’.

Williams recently praised Markle on her charity cookbook, and also revealed that the Duchess was one of the first people she called after her controversial US Open defeat. We predict Markle will want Williams on the job.

The Duke and Duchess were spotted at Harry’s school friend Tom Inskip’s wedding to Lara in Jamaica prior to their ‘official’ outing as a couple. This means they are trusted member of the Royal inner-circle, and potential choices for their future-child’s godparents.

Back in the summer, multiple news outlets reported that the Duke and Duchess, despite not having announced their pregnancy yet, had asked friends Amal and George Clooney to be their children’s godparents.

A source close to the royal pair is said to have told Heat the lawyer and actor jumped at the chance, during a trip to their home in Italy.

Consultant to Soho House, where the Duke and Duchess are said to have had their first date, Markus Anderson (also Markle’s date to the last Invictus Games) is another possible contender. Rumour has it he, not Nonoo, set the couple up.

Markle’s ‘Suits sister wife’ have been close since the dawn of the long-standing TV. One of the few guests Meghan chose to attend the royal wedding in May - we predict Rafferty has a good shot of becoming godmother.

A new father himself, Patrick J. Adams rose to fame alongside his TV love interest Markle. Since her engagement he has been a vocal supporter of their union, leading us to believe he could be in with a chance.

A long-time friend of the actress, Priyanka Chopra consistently backs the new royal. Chopra notably spoke out against Markle’s Vanity Fair profile, which she believed overly focussed on the Suits star’s relationship to Prince Harry. 'It would have been nice to write about her not just her boyfriend. I'm just saying,' she said. 'I mean, she's an actor, she's an activist, she's a philanthropist. I mean, she does so much more.'

The Baywatch star has also admitted that Markle's pregnancy announcement has her thinking about popping out some kids herself.

The Duke and Duchess attended Daisy Jenks and Charlie Van Straubenzee’s wedding weeks after their own this summer. The Van Straubenzee brothers count themselves close friends of both William and Harry, as well as the Middleton sisters, making him and his new wife an obvious choice for the Royals.
