Moving in with your significant other is often part and parcel of being in a relationship.

After all, it is during cohabitation that you learn about each other’s adorable/annoying quirks, whether that’s making a cup of tea for your partner in the morning (sweet) or failing to leave toilet seat down (blood-curdling).

However, some couples opt for the rather unconventional situation and choose not to live together at all, despite saying ‘I do’.

Here are several married celebrities who don’t live together:

A year after their wedding in 2018, Big Bang star Cuoco told E! News that she and her husband didn’t live together, describing their relationship as ‘unconventional’.

‘We are building our dream house,’ Cuoco told the news outlet, adding: ‘we are eventually going to be under the same roof forever’.

‘We are not together every single day, and I think personally, it’s important. It works well for us.’

In March this year, the actress revealed on Instagram that she and the equestrian had finally moved in together. ‘Home,’ the star captioned a selfie of her husband kissing her cheek.

The new parents recently welcomed their son into the world, but for several years, the married couple had been living a bicoastal relationship.

In 2016, Ervin was living in Los Angeles while the model resided in New York City.

‘We have a rule,’ Graham told Entertainment Tonight at the time.

‘We don't go longer than two weeks without seeing each other,’ she tells us. ‘It's absolutely fabulous. I love it. We just meet in L.A. or New York. We meet in Paris, Miami. It's pretty sexy.’

In June 2019, the Goop founder said in an interview that she and her husband don’t live together.

The actress told The Sunday Times’ Style magazine that the couple spend four nights a week together at her home.

For the remaining three nights, the television writer would sleep at his own house with his children, Brody and Isabella, who he co-parents with his ex wife, producer Suzanne Bukinik.

‘Oh, all my married friends say that the way we live sounds ideal and we shouldn’t change a thing,’ Paltrow told the publication.

The star has since said that she and Falchuk do plan to move in together at some point in the future.

‘We took a year to let everybody [in the family] take it in and let the dust settle,’ she told InStyle. ‘And now we’re moving in together this month.’

During their 13-year relationship Helena Bonham Carter and Tim Burton lived in separate sides of a conjoined property in north London with their two children.

In 2010, the actress spoke to the Radio Times about their living situation, according to The Telegraph.

‘They say Tim and I are a mad couple with subterranean tunnels between our adjoining houses, and that our children live down the road with another couple,’ she said.

‘We just have two houses knocked together because mine was too small. We see as much of each other as any couple, but our relationship is enhanced by knowing we have our personal space to retreat to.

‘It’s not enforced intimacy. It’s chosen, which is quite flattering – if you can afford it.’

The non-binary couple have been together for several years and tied the knot in March 2018. However, despite their marital status, the couple decided not to move in together.

‘We still don't live together,’ body-neutrality advocate Meyers told People months after their marriage. ‘We see each other on a weekly basis. We're FaceTiming all day, everyday.’
