Spoilers below.

Netflix’s latest crime thriller, Untamed, just premiered its first season, but it has already climbed to the streamer’s No. 1 spot. Eric Bana stars as Kyle Turner, a Yosemite National Park agent who discovers that his own history might be intertwined with a young woman’s death in the wilderness. The show was originally intended to be a limited series, but fans seem to want more—and the creators just might have more story to tell.

Here’s what we know so far about a second season of Untamed.

Has Untamed been renewed for season 2?

Netflix originally planned for only one season of Untamed—but that hasn’t stopped streaming platforms from renewing popular limited series in the past. Untamed could easily become the latest example of this trend, as it seems the cast and crew are interested in continuing the show. 'We spoke about what would happen to Kyle after this, in theory. So you never know,' Bana told Variety in a recent interview.

His co-star, Lily Santiago (Naya Vasquez), would also like another season with “more solving of murders,” she said in an interview with TV Insider. 'Honestly, I would love for [Naya] to get called up to go to a different place. Bring me to a mountain in Hawai’i. I’m hoping that it’s new murder, new location, wilderness challenges, and new things to learn,' she added.

Creator Mark L. Smith told Tudum what he thinks could be in store for Kyle, should the saga continue.

'Instead of Turner being in his element, he’ll be in a land where he doesn’t understand all the dangers and the risks, and he doesn’t understand the people around [him],' he shared. 'He’ll be a little bit on his back foot and a little bit unsure, and he’ll have to learn as well.'

What would season 2 of Untamed be about?

The first season followed Kyle Turner as he investigated the death of Lucy Cooke in Yosemite National Park following her fall from the infamous El Capitan. Lucy’s death is at first associated with a drug ring inside the park’s caves, but Kyle suspects there’s something else at play. He eventually learns Lucy was attacked by her own biological father, Chief Paul Souter, who placed Lucy in an abusive foster home when she was a child. The show ends with Souter dying by suicide (and a few other dramatic twists)—but the case is finally closed. At the end of the season, viewers watch as Kyle turns his beloved horse over to Naya, and leaves Yosemite, seemingly for good.

Co-showrunner Elle Smith said to TV Insider that she has thought about a possible second season, in which she imagines Turner and Naya going to a different national park, explaining, 'They travel from park to park and case to case and things like that. So I think that’s what was interesting to us, and if we got the opportunity to do it again, it would be getting to explore a different park, a different case.'

She added, 'We would do this forever if they let us, but we’ll see. We’ll see how many adventures Turner has left in him.'

Who would star in season 2 of Untamed?

It sounds like both Bana and Santiago are down to return. If they do stick together, but head to a new park, there could be an entirely new cast—and new dangers—waiting for them there.
