'What's good on TV right now?' is a question that punctuates most of the conversations I have these days. The answer (especially to that specific enigma of an entertainment quandary - what's the best '30min brain break TV show' right now?) being uttered more and more, is Overcompensating.
If you're wondering what Overcompensating is all about, well it's being described as the most hilarious show of 2025, a comedy masterpiece that has you creased over laughing one minute - and feeling all the feels the next. It's your perfect 'destress from the day' show, basically.
With eight episodes streaming on Prime Video now, Overcompensating is described by the makers as 'a college-set ensemble comedy about the wild, chaotic journey of Benny, a closeted former football player and homecoming king, as he becomes fast friends with Carmen, a high school outsider on a mission to fit in at all costs.

'With guidance from Benny’s older sister and her campus-legend boyfriend, Benny and Carmen juggle horrible hookups, flavored vodka, and fake IDs. Deeply funny and personal, the show explores the lengths to which we all overcompensate while on the path to finding out who we really are.'
Who is in the cast of 'Overcompensating'?
Overcompensating is the brainchild of TikTok's favourite US comedian, Benito Skinner. If you're unfamiliar with his skits, then do yourself a favour and join his million plus followers over on TikTok and Instagram who have been fans for years. As Benny Drama, he performs celebrity impressions, skits, and original characters that will have you screaming. The show is loosely based on some of his own experiences growing up.
Alongside Skinner, the cast includes Wally Baram (Shrinking), Mary Beth Barone (Black Mirror), Adam DiMarco (The White Lotus) and Rish Shah (Ms. Marvel). Recurring guest stars include Connie Britton, Kyle MacLachlan, Kaia Gerber, Julia Shiplett, Tommy Do, Alexandra Beaton, Claire Qute, Elias Azimi and Maddie Phillips.
How is Charli XCX involved in Overcompensating?
Charli XCX is good friends with creator Benito Skinner - she serves as an executive producer and is also Overcompensating's executive music producer. She has an iconic cameo in episode four that we refuse to ruin (though you may have seen the 'Boom Clap' joke in the trailer...)
Will there be a season two of Overcompensating?
There's no official word from Prime Video yet - and it often takes some time to hear. But with the show currently at the top of the charts on the streaming platform - and the series ending on a cliffhanger - you'd expect there to be more to come.
Overcompensating is available on Prime Video now.
