The ex-wife of Coldplay frontman Chris Martin admitted that while she doesn't know Markle or her husband, Prince Harry, personally — despite being neighbours in Montecito — she feels generally inclined to show support for women when they're attacked in the media. 'When there’s noise about certain women in the culture, I do have, always, a strong instinct to stand up for them,' Paltrow said. 'I don’t know Meghan and Harry. I mean, I’ve met Meghan, who seems really lovely, but I don’t know her at all. Maybe I’ll try to get through their security detail and bring them a pie.'
'I was raised to see other women as friends, not foes,' Paltrow added of the comparisons between herself and the former Suits star. 'I think there’s always more than enough to go around. Everybody deserves an attempt at everything that they want to try.'
Paltrow also shared an adage that her mother, actor Blythe Danner, used to share with her when she was younger: 'Another woman is never your competition [and] what is right for you will find you.'
Paltrow launched her lifestyle label Goop in 2008 and a decade later, according to the New York Times, it was valued at $250 million (£194 million). Markle announced the launch of her lifestyle label American Riviera Orchard in March 2024 with an Instagram account and website, but, after facing trademark difficulties, later announced its rebrand to 'As Ever' in February 2025.
