Elon Musk, the world’s richest man and owner of X, formerly known as Twitter, is being sued over parental rights by the mother of three of his children, Grimes.

According to Page Six, the singer, who shares three young children with Musk — X Æ A-Xii, Exa Dark Sideræl, and Techno Mechanicus — filed a ‘petition to establish a parental relationship’ in a California court at the end of September.

While Grimes’ filings have been sealed, the legal move is understood to stem from a desire for Grimes to establish a custody agreement with Musk, who also shares six other children with his first wife, Justine Wilson.

Musk was previously engaged to actress, Talulah Riley.

Musk and Grimes, who once referred to their relationship as ‘the best internship ever’, began dating in 2018 and officially ‘semi-separated’ in 2021. The pair welcomed their son X Æ A-Xii in 2020, followed by daughter Exa Dark Sideræl, or “Y,” in 2021 and Techno Mechanicus in 2022. Y and Tau were both born via surrogate.

Following his split from Grimes, Musk also welcomed twins with AI expert, Shivon Zilis, though news of the newborns did not surface until July 2023.

Musk has yet to respond to Grimes' filing.
