The cast of Barbie really said, ‘Let’s go party’ at its global premiere last night in Los Angeles. Ahead of the Greta Gerwig-directed film's release later this month, the cast joined together to celebrate on the red - or should that be pink? - carpet last night.

In true Barbie fashion, the premiere was studded with statement dresses galore (Schiaperelli Barbie! Bottega Barbie!) and more exciting tidbits and teasers with which to whet the whistle.

In case you've already got a countdown on until Barbie's release date on 21 July, here is everything you need to know from last night's premiere – including those all-important first reactions to the film.

Everybody Got The Barbie Dress Code Memo

It’s unsurprising that the good and the great bought their stylistic A-game to the premiere, but these were Barbie-approved looks that seriously served. Dua Lipa opted for silver chainmail Bottega Veneta, Greta Gerwig embraced Pepto Bismol pink in Valentino and America Ferrera shone in a blush toned St. John dress, which she paired with a punchy pink Kate Spade bag.

Margot Robbie Had Her Biggest Barbie Moment Yet

Barbie herself swapped her signature pink in favour of black for last night's premiere. Working alongside her stylist Andrew Mukamal, Margot Robbie recreated the original ‘Solo in the Spotlight’ Barbie doll from 1960 in an embellished Schiaparelli dress, which she completed with opera gloves and a diamond choker, proving that black is most definitely back.

Greta Gerwig is all for ‘Barbieheimer’

When asked about the unlikely competition between Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer and Gerwig’s Barbie, which are released on the same day at the end of July, Gerwig told The Hollywood Reporter: 'It’s all love — double up, double up twice. I think you’ve got to see what the experience is, Barbie then Oppenheimer, Oppenheimer then Barbie. I think you’ve got to take all of the journeys.'

Barbie star Issa Rae added that she finds the competition 'hilarious.' The Insecure creator said: ' love that there’s solidarity though where people tried to pit us against one another but now it’s turned into like a double-feature situation. Obviously you should see Oppenheimer first and then cleanse your palate with Barbie.'

The Early Reactions To Barbie Are In — And It’s ‘Perfection’

Variety's social media editor, Katcy Stephan, shared their thoughts on Twitter, stating that the film was nothing short of 'perfection.’ '#Barbie is perfection. Greta Gerwig delivers a nuanced commentary on what it means to be a woman in a whimsical, wonderful and laugh-out-loud funny romp,' Stephan says.

Another user tweeted, '#Barbie caught me off guard & I mean that in the best way possible. It’s funny, bombastic, & very smart. Greta Gerwig aims for the fences & hits a home-run. Margot Robbie’s performance is great & Ryan Gosling & SimuLiu are pure entertainment! The whole cast is brilliant!’
