There's nothing like a good rom-com to add a touch of hopeful sparkle to yet another grey and drizzly British 'spring' day – but after a long winter of dragging out the same old Richard Curtis repertoire for the umpteenth time, we're in dire need of some fresh material.
So we could not be more excited for the release of Love Again, a rom-com classic in the making starring the glorious Priyanka Chopra-Jonas and Outlander's dashing Sam Heughan. The latest film from director James Strouse, Love Again follows the story of Mira Ray (Chopra-Jonas), a young woman who tries to ease the pain of her fiancé's death by sending heartfelt text messages to his old phone number – and inadvertently forms a connection with Rob Burns (Heughan), the man whose work phone the number has been reassigned to.
Just the right mix of heart-breaking and hilarious, tearful and uplifting, and featuring brilliant cameos from Nick Jonas, Omid Djalili and Celine Dion to boot, Love Again is veritable rom-com gold. Ahead of the film's release on 10 May, protagonists Priyanka Chopra-Jonas and Sam Heughan sat down with ELLE UK to answer questions about their fabulous co-stars in a game of 'Knowing Me Knowing You'.

Both Chopra-Jonas and Heughan admitted to being, understandably, star-struck by one member of the cast in particular. 'Meeting Celine was pretty cool,' said Heughan. 'Yeah, that was amazing,' agreed Chopra-Jonas. The latter then went on to recall a rather more mortifying (her words) encounter with another of the world's most iconic singers: Beyoncé.
'It was slightly awkward,' she explained.' I was at some after-party, and I don’t usually get starstruck but, I don’t know… This was Beyoncé. A couple of common friends were like “oh you know, come to the corner table” or whatever, and we went to the corner table and she got up. And she goes “Hi Priyanka.” And I was just like… wait a minute, she knows my name? And I may have just backed up and said hello... I backed up and went to my car. I left this party, because I was so mortified with my reaction to her saying hi to me.’
When it came to guessing which of their co-stars made a brief appearance in Sex And The City 2, the pair agreed that it was 'terrible' they didn't 'spend enough time asking people what else they've been in' – and were surprised to find the correct answer was British comedian Omid Djalili.
Heughan and Chopra-Jonas then discussed which character they'd each play in Sex And The City – 'the one with the most fabulous outfits,' for Heughan, while Chopra-Jonas admitted she's 'a little Miranda too sometimes.' 'Particular, specific, intentional...' she explained of their likeness, 'but I think all the ladies have their own "thing".' 'It's what makes them such a good friend group,' said Heughan.
But, it turns out, Heughan has never watched the hit show. When asked whether he was 'Team Big or Team Aidan', he admitted: 'I don't know what that means,' before Chopra-Jonas erupted into laughter, saying 'Poor Sam.'
Chopra-Jonas, however, had her own opinion on the debate. 'Team Big,' she said. 'Well, I was Team Big, until I saw this season.'
Elsewhere, the stars talked sandwiches – Heughan is a big fan of a meatball filling, while Chopra-Jonas prefers a classic BLT – and the importance of snacking. 'I love popcorn,' said Chopra-Jonas, who revealed that her secret is making it with her own special Indian spice blend. 'I think snacking is crucial... I'm a major snacker. Just anything I can get my hands on: chips and dips, pita and hummus... I have a whole drawer of snacks that just opens up after dinner.'
From revealing the songs that are guaranteed to make them cry and the biggest sandwich they've ever eaten, to someone's not-so-secret penchant for champagne, you can watch the full video of Love Again’s Priyanka Chopra-Jonas and Sam Heughan playing Knowing Me Knowing You at the top of this article.
Love Again is released in cinemas on 10 May.
