Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have made a surprise appearance outside Windsor Castle alongside Kate and William, the new Princess and Prince of Wales.

The four royals surprised the crowds lining the streets outside the grounds of Windsor Castle, by appearing as a foursome to view tributes and greet well-wishers following the death of Britain's longest-reigning monarch and Harry and William's grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II. A show of unity and solidarity in mourning, the unexpected appearance was greeted with clapping and cheers by onlookers, who had visited the site to pay their respects to the late Queen.

This marks a significant moment for the royal family, as the first public appearance the two couples have made together since the passing of the Queen – and following months of rumoured feuds. The last public appearance the two couples made together was at the Queen's Platinum Jubilee service of thanksgiving held at St. Paul's Cathedral in June, though they sat separately and were not photographed together.
