Gwyneth Paltrow has revealed that disgraced film producer Harvey Weinstein was one of the catalysts in making the decision to step away from Hollywood.
Paltrow publicly accused Weinstein of sexually harassing her in a hotel room when she was just 22 years old, as reported by The New York Times in 2017.
In an episode of SiriusXM’s Quarantined with Bruce show, released on December 8, the actress spoke about her decision to semi-retire from her career as an actress.

The actress also stated that in addition to being a natural 'homebody', her experience working with Weinstein - who co-founded the the film production company Miramax - partly affected her decision to turn away from acting.
'If you compound those things with the fact that like, you know, to be totally candid, I had a really rough boss for most of my movie career at Miramax...So you’re like, "I don’t know if this is really my calling".'
'Yeah. A really rough boss,' host Bruce Bozzi interjected.
'Yeah. So you're like, "I don't know if this is really my calling". So I'm still trying to parse out what came from what, and you know, where, how my life changed course. But I think that stew is a big piece of it.'
In recent years, Paltrow has focused on building her lifestyle brand, Goop, and appeared in the Netflix series The Politician. Paltrow launched Goop in 2008 as a newsletter, which has since developed into a multi-million valued business across the world.
In March, Weinstein was sentenced to 23 years for rape and sexual assault. At the time, his lawyers stated that they would appeal against the conviction.
