Updated 30/07/20: Ryan Reynolds has announced that the stolen teddy bear he offered a $5,000 (£3,895) reward for has finally been returned to its owner.

On Wednesday, the father-of-three tweeted a photograph of the bear after it had been located.

‘In happier news... thank you everyone who searched high and low. To the person who took the bear, thanks for keeping it safe. Vancouver is awesome. #FoundMarasBear,’ Reynolds tweeted.

According to CTV News, the bear’s owner, Mara Soriano, received an email on Tuesday night saying that they had the toy.

Ryan Reynolds is offering up a large sum of money to help locate a woman's lost, stuffed teddy bear.

On Sunday, the 43-year-old actor shared a photograph of the bear on his Twitter account and revealed that he was offering a $5,000 (£3,895) reward with ‘zero questions asked’ to the person who returned the Build-A-Bear toy back to its owner.

‘Vancouver: $5,000 to anyone who returns this bear to Mara. Zero questions asked. I think we all need this bear to come home,’ Reynolds shared on Twitter.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the bear belongs to a woman named Mara Soriano. The bear reportedly went missing after her black backpack was stolen during a recent house move.

While the bag contained important documents, an iPad, and a Nintendo Switch, it’s the bear that Soriano desperately wants returned as it has an audio recording of her late mother, whose voice changed after she went into a hospice after being diagnosed with cancer.

‘She said that she loved me and she was proud of me and that she’ll always be with me,’ Soriano told EW of the recording.

Several other celebrities including actor Dan Levy, director Rawson Thurber and actor Zach Braff have taken to their social media accounts to raise awareness of the lost bear.

Several of Reynold's fans have matched and added to his reward sum since he shared the news of the missing bear, while others have donated to the Sunnybrook Hospice in Toronto, Canada which cared for Soriano's mother.

The news comes days after Taylor Swift’s fans believed she revealed the name of Reynolds' and his wife Blake Lively’s third daughter.

On a song titled ‘Betty’, the 30-year-old sings the names of the couple’s two eldest children, Inez and James. As a result, several of her fans believe Betty is the name of their youngest child.

Since the child’s birth last summer, the couple have chosen not to publicly reveal the name of their tot.

Last December, Reynolds joked that he and his wife hadn't decided on a name for their third daughter, telling presenters on the Today show: 'We're going to be original and... all the letters in her name are silent.

'I want to give her something to push against in life.'
