Following months of rumours, Netflix have finally confirmed a Michelle Obama documentary... and it's coming sooner than expected.
Both the streaming service and the former First Lady herself announced last week (April 27) that the documentary Becoming would land on TV screens on May 6.
Obama herself shared an update about the documentary's arrival on Instagram, noting that it will be released while much of the world is under strict lockdown measures due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

'It’s hard these days to feel grounded or hopeful, but I hope that like me, you’ll find joy and a bit of respite in what Nadia [Hallgren, the director] has made...,' she began her post's caption.
'I’m here for you. And I know you are here for one another. Even as we can no longer safely gather we need to stay open and able to put ourselves in other people’s shoes. Empathy is our lifeline here. Let’s use it to redirect our attention toward what matters most, and find ways to better remake the world in the image of our hopes.'
Here's everything we know about the documentary:
What is the Michelle Obama documentary about?
If you hadn't guessed by the title - which is the same as her bestselling 2018 memoir - the documentary follows the former lawyer and city worker during her book tour, which saw Obama visit cities all over the world as fans arrived in their thousands (after struggling to get those hugely coveted tickets) to hear her discuss the topics in her book.
From addressing when she apparently 'broke royal protocol' with the Queen and marriage counselling with Barack to her upbringing in the south side of Chicago and attending Donald Trump's inauguration, the former first lady was candid, inspiring and optimistic at these events.
Many of the discussions were chaired by the likes of Oprah Winfrey, Sarah Jessica Parker and Stephen Colbert and saw her have iconic fashion moments - like those stunning Balenciaga glitter thigh-high boots.
Fans can expect to see behind the scenes moments from her 34-city book tour which came at a time of 'profound change - not only for her personally but for the country she and her husband served over eight impactful years in the White House'.
'The film offers a rare and up-close look at her life, taking viewers behind the scenes as she embarks on a 34-city tour that highlights the power of community to bridge our divides and the spirit of connection that comes when we openly and honestly share our stories,' a release explained.
Through the documentary, we are privy to all parts of that mammoth arena tour. From the planning process - including liaising with the secret service - the fashion team behind her biggest style moments, the private meetings she held along the way with youth groups and her frank discussions with the camera about her life past and present.
Is there a trailer for Michelle Obama's Becoming documentary?
Yes. The full trailer was released on Monday (May 4th) giving more of an insight into what viewers can expect which you can watch in full, above.
There's also a one minute 30 second clip showing Obama at one of the community events she visited along with her tour.
In the clip, she is shown seated in a circle with young women from Philadelphia, one of whom asks her how it feels to be stepping back into her 'normal life' after eight years in the White House.
Will Barack Obama feature in Michelle Obama's documentary?
Yes, as well as her children Malia and Sasha in a rare interview from the two daughters about their hopes and dreams for their parents now they have left office.
However, it's worth noting that the focus is very much, and rightly so, on Michelle during the book tour.
Other personal moments in Michelle's life are also discussed and shared in the documentary, including the house where she grew up, the close relationship she has with her mother Marian Robinson (who also lived in the White House with the family) and her elder brother Craig.
How can I watch the Michelle Obama Becoming documentary?
On Netflix, from 8am on Wednesday May 6.
