Twitter might be rooting for a Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston rekindled romance this week, following their recent reunion at the SAG Awards, but it’s the actor’s relationship with Leonardo DiCaprio that we’re loving today.

Pitt and the Academy Award winner became firm friends after staring in the Oscar-nominated film Once Upon A Time…in Hollywood last year. Dicaprio even received a quick shout out from his co-star during his Best Supporting Actor winning speech at the Golden Globes, with the father-of-six referring to him by his initials ‘LDC’.

‘I also have to thank my partner in crime, LDC,’ he began. ‘Before The Revenant, I used to watch year after year, his co-stars win awards and get up and thank him profusely and I now know why. He’s an all star, he’s a gent. I wouldn’t be here without you, man.’

He also quipped: ‘I thank you. But still… I would’ve shared the raft.’

However, during an interview with PEOPLE ahead of Sunday night’s SAG awards, the 56-year-old revealed he has received a pretty sweet pet name from the 45-year-old actor, too.

‘Lover. He calls me Lover,’ Pitt told reporters. ‘It’s a bit confusing, but I roll with it.’

In the film, Pitt plays Cliff Booth, a has-been stuntman for DiCaprio’s character Rick Dalton, an insecure TV star, amid the drama of the Charles Manson murders.

Opening up about his chemistry with DiCaprio and other actors in Hollywood, like George Clooney, Pitt added: ‘You’ll find, with most of the guys, I would say we’re all pretty much rooting for each other, we all have respect for each other, we all have a good laugh with each other. And it plays, and it’s pretty easy.’

Last May at the Cannes Film Festival, Pitt opened up about the fun he and DiCaprio had on set while shooting the Quentin Tarantino film.

‘I had a great laugh with him,’ Pitt said. ‘It’s that thing knowing you have the best of the best on the opposite side of the table holding up the scene with you. There is a great relief in that.’

Pitt, who is also nominated for a Best Supporting Oscar for his role in Tarantino’s film, recently credited fellow actor Bradley Cooper for helping him on his journey to sobriety.

'I got sober because of this guy, and every day’s been happier ever since,' Pitt announced to the audience at the National Board of Review Annual Awards Gala earlier this month as Cooper presented him with a gong.. 'I love you, and I thank you.'

Pitt has spoken about his struggle with alcoholism on several occasions in recent months.

During a discussion with actor Anthony Hopkins for Interview magazine, the the Mr & Mrs Smith star said that he saw his dependence to alcohol as a ‘disservice’ to himself and an ‘escape’.

‘I'm realising, as a real act of forgiveness for myself for all the choices that I've made that I'm not proud of, that I value those missteps, because they led to some wisdom, which led to something else,’ he told Hopkins.
