During their visit to Canada over the Christmas period, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry took some precious time out of their schedule to help a couple struggling to take a photo with a selfie stick.

On Thursday, Asymina Kantorowicz told the Canadian news network CTV News that she and her partner Illiya Pavlovic went on a hike on New Year’s Day in Vancouver Island's Horth Hill Regional Park.

However, while struggling to take a photo with a selfie stick, the pair soon found themselves approached by a group consisting of Suits star Abigail Spencer, and the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

'I actually couldn’t believe who it was,’ she explained. ‘Then I looked over to the side and that’s when I realised Prince Harry was standing there.

'I kept looking back and forth like, "Is this actually happening?”.'

Kantorowicz and Pavlovic continued, adding that the Duchess was ‘super friendly’ and took three photos, while her famous husband is said to have joked ‘no pressure’ as she took the photos.

‘We noticed a group was standing nearby and they had two dogs, one of which was approaching us,' they explained.

'[Meghan] starts asking if we want her to take a photo for us. We said sure. I didn't see who she was at that time.'

Upon realising that it was Meghan taking the picture, Kantorowicz said: 'In that moment the only thing I could think to say, "There's only so much that selfie sticks can do".

'She laughed and responded with something like, "We'll have to do better," before Harry added, "No pressure."'

The couples are then said to have wished each other a 'happy new year' and parted ways.

The royals are believed to have spent the festive period in Canada with the Duchess of Sussex’s mother, Doria Ragland, and have caught up with some of the 38-year-old’s friends who live there.

To celebrate the new year, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex shared an adorable new photo featuring their eight-month-old son, Archie.

In a new IGTV video uploaded to the Sussex Royal Instagram account to mark the end of 2019, the couple shared some photo highlights from the past year which included previously unseen snaps such as one of the father and son which was believed to have been taken during their Christmas break in Canada.

In the snap, the tot wears a pair of Ugg boots gifted by the Australian Governor General during the couple's royal tour to Australia in the Autumn of 2018 and a bobble hat from the Auckland-based charity Make Give Live that uses knitting to combat loneliness.
