Meghan Markle has just given us goosebumps with a powerful video about the importance of women around the world recognising their value.

To celebrate the UN’s International Day Of The Girl – a day that aims to promote girls’ empowerment and the fulfilment of their human rights – on Friday 11th October, the Duchess of Sussex posted a video on Instagram to inspire girls to fulfil their dreams.

‘Every girl has potential,’ the 38-year-old says in a voiceover on the video, which shows clips of young girls around the world.

‘She has promise, she has the right to learn, the right to be heard, the right to play and to discover. The right to be exactly who she is.’

The video also includes a clip of the former UN Women ambassador speaking at the UN Women Conference in 2015 and her first television appearance, aged 11, after she successfully made a soap manufacturer change their sexist advert for soap.

‘So to each one of you, keep asking questions, keep pushing forward, keep shining brightly, know your worth and know that we are behind you every step of the way,’ Markle concludes her inspiring message.

An excerpt on the video’s caption reads: ‘The Duchess of Sussex has been a long time advocate for women’s and girls rights and at the age of eleven campaigned against a sexist advertisement, which was then changed. No matter what age, or what background you have the power to make an impact.

‘HRH recently shared a quote during a speech in Cape Town: "Visualise your highest self, and show up as her.” To all of the young girls reading this today on International Day of the Girl, that quote is for you.’

The post comes almost a year since Meghan delivered a speech on feminism in celebration of the 125th anniversary of women’s suffrage in New Zealand.

‘Women's suffrage is about feminism, but feminism is about fairness,’ she said during her speech.
