The Hulu comedy-drama Only Murders In The Building made quite the impact when it was released back in August 2021, and not just because it meant Disney star Selena Gomez's long-awaited return to the small screen. The true-crime-meets-comedy show follows the lives of three Upper West Siders (Gomez, Steve Martin and Martin Short) as they investigate a murder in their apartment building – by way of some pretty epic cast members including Cara Delevingne, Tina Fey, Paul Rudd, Sting and Amy Schumer.
Little surprise, then, that the show was soon renewed and went on to win multiple awards, Emmys included. Late last year, Hulu also confirmed that the show would be back once again for a third season – much to fans' delight. But if that wasn't already exciting enough, Selena Gomez recently revealed on social media that the cast would be joined by one particularly special guest...
Gomez took to TikTok to share a video of the reunited cast, with the caption 'meet our old and new crew! Excuse me while I scream in a pillow.' Us too, Selena. Us, too. Why? Because said 'new crew' member is none other than the legendary, three-time Oscar-winning, 'best actress of a generation': Meryl Streep.

The best part? There's not long to wait now before the third season returns. Alongside Streep's addition to the cast, this is everything we know so far about the upcoming season of Only Murders In The Building.
When will Only Murders In The Building season three air?
During a presentation in May, Hulu announced that the new season will premiere on Tuesday, August 8, which means only a slightly longer wait than we had ahead of season two's debut. Season two, which arrived on June 28, had quite a quick turnaround, premiering eight months after season one debuted in August 2021.
Who will star in Only Murders In The Building season three?
News regarding the upcoming third season is being kept strictly hush-hush, which is precisely why we're eternally grateful to cast member and Broadway star Nathan Lane for spilling a few details on what we can expect.
Speaking recently with Today, Lane confirmed Meryl Streep's addition to the cast, and implied she will not simply be a Sting-type, one-off guest star. 'They got Meryl Streep – they're filming the third season now – she's joined,' he explained.
The actor went on to reveal that he, however, will no longer be a part of the regular cast. 'If I can, on a day off, they've asked me to pop in,' he explained. But the plot is set to go in a different direction: 'It's Meryl, Paul Rudd and Jesse Williams. It's a whole new murder mystery.'
And the surprise cast announcements just keep coming, it seems. The latest addition to the star-studded OMITB crew? None other than Emily In Paris star Ashley Park, who revealed the news with a hilarious TikTok video alongside co-stars Selena Gomez and Martin Short.
The 31-year-old actress shared a video of the trio lip-syncing the dialogue from 1942 film My Sister Eileen, with the caption 'murders?? IN THIS BUILDING???? So excited to join this killer (pun intended) cast of amazing humans.'
In a recent interview with E! News, Park revealed details about what her role might entail. 'All I can tell you is that I play a Broadway ingénue,' she said. 'And I think that if I gave anything else away, I'd get in trouble.' Deadline confirmed the news, adding that Park joins in a 'recurring role' and that her character will be called Kimber.
The Emily In Paris star also spoke about the experience of working alongside co-star Selena Gomez in the series. 'I only know that she's the absolute sweetest,' she told E! 'I've had such a joy on that set.' We can't wait to see the result!
Paul Rudd has also opened up about his delight at joining the show for season three. Speaking with People, the 53-year-old actor said he was particularly excited to be working alongside Steve Martin, Martin Short, and fellow cast newbie, Meryl Streep.
'I came in there, and there's Meryl Streep, who is arguably the greatest of all time,' he explained. 'And Martin Short, who is one of the funniest people on the planet, and somebody that just, I love, I really love. And yet to be there with Steve Martin, when I think back on people who probably had more of an impact on my life and my wanting to do this, or my understanding that performing or anything was even a career somebody would have, it was him.'
'It's a special place, I could just tell, I could feel it,' gushed the actor. 'It's such a great group of people and it's also just a really fun place to be.'
Rudd joins the cast as 'famous actor' Ben Glenroy in season three, a storyline that was teased at the end of season two as he was seen arguing with Martin on-stage – before the camera shows him lying on the floor, presumably dead.
What will happen in Only Murders In The Building season three?
As for details of what will go down in Only Murders In The Building season three, it's still being kept firmly under wraps. However, recent photos that have emerged from the set of the show hint at one seriously major plot point... Namely: Selena Gomez's character Mabel Mora standing outside the Arconia building wearing a big white wedding dress. Yes, really.
Fans of the show will recall that Mabel ended season two in the arms of Alice, an artist played by Cara Delevingne. Could these new wedding dress photos be evidence of their happily ever after? Or perhaps they're part of another murder-filled plotline entirely... We have learned to always expect the unexpected in OMITB, after all.
