Last November, Netflix drew 2020 to a close by announcing that their slightly controversial, but deliciously consumable hit show Emily in Paris had been confirmed for a second season.

Oh, and that the title of the show should be read in a French accent, making it rhyme.

Mon dieu, indeed!

If that fact alone wasn't enough to shock you, here's a quick rundown of everything you need to know about Emily in Paris season 2:

When will Emily in Paris season 2 be released?

It's officially - Emily in Paris will be released on December 22.

On November 29 Lily Collins shared a photograph of her and her co-star Ashley Park in promo for the film.

'New bangs, old habits. Yup, they’re real! Back at it with @ashleyparklady for our @emilyinparis press day…,' she captioned the post.

In the photo the actor wears a Breton long-sleeved top and skirt while Park is dressed in a rose-printed red blazer, a coordinated skirt and pink accessories.

In a recent interview with E! News, Park (who plays Mindy Chen) revealed that the cast would be reuniting earlier in the year to film the show.

‘We're definitely filming season two in 2021,’ she told the news outlet. ‘I know nothing about the plot. They haven't even written it. That's what's kind of amazing. In season one, they'd only written, I think, two or three scripts when we were cast... So nothing has been written yet, as far as I know. I'm sure Darren has ideas.’

On May 3, Lily Collins confided that the Netflix's romantic comedy series has begun production on its second season. To commemorate the exciting news, the actor and some of the cast of the show took to Instagram to share a video of themselves back on set together.

The model and actor captioned the video, which was accompanied by a letter from Emily's boss Sylvie announcing the continuation of the PR's contract at the Parisian agency,: 'Bonjour from Paris (and maybe some other areas of France😉)! We’re officially back in production on Season 2! [sic].'

On August 4, there was a hint that perhaps the show might arrive sooner than initially expected when Collins confirmed that filming on the second season had wrapped.

Sharing a slideshow of joyful behind-the-scenes photos of herself with her 'partner in crime' Park, Collins wrote: 'Last day on set and I can’t imagine wrapping on a more perfect note with my @emilyinparis partner in crime. I’m not crying, you’re crying!…'

Director Andrew Fleming also confirmed that he had called 'cut' for the last time for the second season of the show, confirming that 'tears were shed today':

Which was confirmed by guest star Jeremy O'Harris (read on for more on this) who shared evidence of the actors and friends crying in a 'that's a wrap' montage:

Is there a trailer for Emily in Paris season 2?

Yes, on November 18 Netflix finally released the long-awaited trailer (above).

In the teaser Emily is seen revealing that she has a passionate night with Gabriel after she bid him au revoir at the end of season one, before seemingly put an end to their affair and enjoying life in Paris with another love interest.

On September 23 Collins shared a 'first look' at her and her co-stars fashion in the show, and let's just say they don't disappoint.

'Finally, a first look at @emilyinparis Saison Deux!!!' she captioned a series of snaps. 'So excited to be sharing the screen with this incredible cast. Can’t wait for you guys to see everything that’s coming. You’re in for a real treat. Until then, bisous bisous!!…. [sic].'

In the photos Collins' character can be seen wearing a purple tiered ruffled dress, a yellow beret, an Audrey Hepburn-inspired beehive hair 'do, a tweed green blazer, a backless pink evening mini dress, a multicoloured vinyl trench and a Breton top.

Earlier this year Netflix released a cute announcement video with a handful of our favourite cast members, declaring 'deux' (meaning 'two' in French, of course).

And since we're in the viewing mood, let's rewatch the trailer for season one, yeah?

What happened at the end of Emily in Paris season 1?

If you haven't yet followed go-getting (monolingual), Chicagoan Emily Cooper, played by Lily Collins, on her fish-out-of-water journey through Paris, then we recommend you head over to Netflix and indulge.

For those who have watched the show, and need a little refresher before getting excited for the second season, the first ended in cliffhanger style.

After Cooper had managed to avoid being fired by her devastatingly chic boss Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu) by helping iconic designer Pierre Cadault throw a guerrilla fashion show, and her neighbour and boyfriend of cool pal Camille (Camille Razat), Gabriel (Lucas Bravo), moved back to Normandy (therefore making him an ex of Camille, and his and Emily's tryst slightly less problematic), everything seemed to be going swimmingly for peppy Cooper.

This was until Cooper's fellow ex-pat mate Mindy Chen (Ashley Park) was fired from her au pair job for moonlighting at a drag bar (and pursuing her dreams, might we add) so had to unceremoniously move into Emily's garret and - this is the kicker - Sylvie's married beau, perfumer Antoine Lambert (William Abadie) invested in restaurant Les Deux Comperes, ensuring Gabriel can stay in the French capital.

This final twist will no doubt throw Emily and Camille's budding friendship into a spin, but perhaps not in the way we imagined, with show-creator Darren Star hinting there could be more than platonic feelings between the pair in season 2.

'Nothing is sort of exactly as it seems to [Emily],' Star said. 'And I think a lot of her ideas about life are constantly tested. And they will be next season, as well.

'What happens in the next chapter, I think, can be a real exploration of how does the relationship between these three characters evolve.

'That, to me, is such a fun thing to explore in season two, because these are not Americans. They're French people. To me, a big part of the show is looking at everything through a different lens. Season two will open up some interesting and surprising relationship avenues.'

Who is the cast of 'Emily in Paris' season 2?

From the looks of the season 2 teaser trailer, it appears Mindy Chen (Park), Antoine Lambert (William Abadie), Camille (Camille Razat), Gabriel (Lucas Bravo), Luc (Bruno Gouery), Julien (Samuel Arnold), Sylvie (Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu), and of course, Emily Cooper (Lily Collins).

However, Netflix reportedly recently announced there are several new cast members joining the crew.

According to Deadline, Scream Queens star Lucien Laviscount has joined the project to play Alfie. The press release states that Laviscount's character is a 'sarcastic and charming cynic' who 'works to live'.

The British star reportedly plays a 30-year-old Londoner working at a bank in France.

'He enjoys teasing Emily,' the release is believed to note. 'They have an antagonist relationship that evolves into something more.' Hello, new love interest?

Guest stars also reportedly include Jeremy O. Harris (Zola), who will play an 'iconic' fashion designer, and Arnaud Binard (Les Disparus de Valenciennes), who plays a Saint Tropez nightclub owner.

A quick look at a recent Instagram post from the show and it seems Emily and her amis will also be traveling across France in season two, with the cast seen shooting in the sunny St Tropez area earlier this year.

'Bonjour from St. Tropez 🌴☀️ Loving this reunion for the start of Season 2!' the post's captioned reads.

Lily Collins Reveals She Also Didn't Know That The Title Should Be Pronounced With A French Accent.

Netflix recently revealed that Emily in Paris is supposed to be pronounced with a French accent so ‘Emily’ and ‘Paris’ rhyme.

During an The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Monday (November 30), Lily Collins responded to it by saying 'So here’s the thing, when we were shooting it in Paris, we heard people referencing it as that more often. Right? Because we’re in Paris and the accent.'

The actress continued by saying 'I was like, ‘Oh yeah, it rhymes. That’s cute.’. Then like us all when she arrived home, she begun annunciating the title with an American accent and ended up feeling 'like I was one with every single other person in the world that found that out the same day,'

The interview provided us with no spoiler, but we are going to keep ourselves busy with the shows rolling rhymes ready for season 2 in the meantime.
