Billie Eilish made a powerful stance against bodyshamers during the opening night of her Where Do We Go world tour in Miami, commenting on the double standards women face.
The singer, who has previously opened up about her choice to wear baggy clothes, shared a video interlude where she made a statement about self-empowerment and the judgement women face while removing her shirt. In it, she says:
"If what I wear is comfortable, I am not a woman. If I shed the layers, I am a slut. Some people hate what I wear, some people praise it. Some people use it to shame others, some people use it to shame me. While I feel your stares, your disapproval or your sighs of relief, if I lived by them, I’d never be able to move.
"The body I was born with, is it not what you wanted? If what I wear is comfortable, I am not a woman. If I shed the layers, I am a slut. Though you’ve never seen my body, you still judge it and judge me for it. Why?"

This isn't the first time Billie has questioned the interest in her baggy (and badass) clothes. In an August 2019 an interview with V Magazine, the 18-year-old touched on the celebratory yet sexist undertones of how people talk about her dress sense.
'[Even] from my parents, [the] positive [comments] about how I dress have this slut-shaming element. Like, "I am so glad that you are dressing like a boy, so that other girls can dress like boys, so that they aren’t sluts."
'I have always... just loved when a woman or a man or anyone in the world feels comfortable in their skin, their body, to show just whatever they want. I don’t like that there’s this weird new world of supporting me by shaming people that [may not] want to [dress like me].'
YES Billie. It shouldn't fall to an 18-year-old to call out the sexism women face about their bodies and how they choose to dress, but shout out to the singer for getting it so right.
