Though Rihanna's seventh studio album was titled Unapologetic, the star is apologising to 'friends, family and co-workers' in a new Instagram post.

The 'What's My Name' singer shared a photo of herself on Instagram on Wednesday saying sorry those who she hasn't 'been able to get back to in the past month'.

Asking for forgiveness, the entrepreneur wrote: 'This year has been quite an overwhelming one and I'm working on that 'ish called Balance.'

Signing off, 'brb' (Be right back), fans were quick to respond saying they absolutely understand the need for balance, breaks and time off and encouraged Rihanna to take her time.

The need for a work-life balance is a hugely pressing issue in society, where we are constantly glued to smart phones and expected to be available at all times and the ability to balance work, a social life, family life, relationships and personal time is something many people struggle with.

So, let's take a second to imagine just how difficult it might be for the singer/actress/beauty line founder/fashion designer/businesswoman Rihanna.

The star wasn't wrong when she said this year had been a busy one. In May, Rihanna launched her new label Fenty - the first new brand to be inducted into the LVMH brand in more than 20 years and the first launched by a black female designer ever. Since its launch, Rih has travelled to Paris and New York for pop-up stores.

In September, Rihanna literally took over New York Fashion Week by showcasing the most talked about event: the Savage X Fenty show, which saw models and dancers including Cara Delevingne, Gigi and Bella Hadid, Ashley Graham, Slick Woods and Normani storm the catwalk.

The same month, she hosted her annual Diamond Ball fundraiser where she was joined by her boyfriend Hassan Jameel.

Then in October, she launched her self-titled visual autobiography featuring never-before-seen images of the superstar.

And, all this has been against the backdrop of her devoted legion of fans - the Navy - questioning just when her next album is going to be released.

Riri, we think some much-needed R&R is necessary.
