Saved by the Bell fans will know, that quite apart from Kelly Kapowski's bouncy hair and even bouncier moves, there really was one thing above all others that had us tuning back in week after week.

And that thing was the impossibly cheeky Zack Morris. Played by actor Mark-Paul Gosselaar, the show's blonde, naughty frontman was forever scheming, getting into scrapes and helping out his odd friend Screech.

Well, for those who've keenly mourned the loss of Morris from our screens, today you can once again rejoice because Mark-Paul Gosselaar is back and boy has he done some growing up.

Variety has repored that Gosselaar has been given the lead role in The Passage, based upon Justin Cronin's literary trilogy.

According to TV Insider, Gosselaar will star as 'Brad Wolgast, a federal agent tasked with finding Amy Bellafonte (Saniyya Sidney). When Brad discovers that the young girl is being sought after for medical experiments linked to Project Noah — a secret medical facility that performs tests with the hope of eradicating all disease — he knows he must do whatever it takes to protect her from that fate.'
