Meghan Markle is, for many of us, an incredibly aspirational figure. She's a self-possessed, entrepreneurial, talented and generous woman and everything from her personal and professional endeavours, through to her chic, pared-down style, is enviable.
This is why, long before her engagement to one of the most famous men on earth, she was able to run a successful (now decommissioned) blog called The Tig, that rivalled the likes of Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop. For years women have wanted to know exactly the whats, whys and hows of the now 37 year-old’s existence, from where she holidays, what she eats to how she manages it all.
That's why, when Bustle unearthed Markle's post of her preferred meditation methods, our ears pricked up.

Meditation is a popular method of self-care, something our own editor-in-chief Anne-marie Curtis partakes in, and something Markle took up around 2014.
In a 2015 blog post she wrote, 'Last week marked the one year anniversary of my relationship with meditation, something I found endlessly daunting at first (the thoughts, the distractions, the boredom of it), but soon became the quietude that rocked my world. I can’t put my finger on the why or the how, but I will tell you this much, for me…I am just happier. And meditation has much to do with that.'
The meditation technique the then Suits star took up is called 'Vedic' meditation which is a non-religious and simple mantra-based method that promises a host of benefits.
On her website Markle quoted her meditation coach Light Watkins as explaining, 'As you forget and become aware that you are meditating, it’s best not to resist any thoughts, including ideas, songs, conversations, images, feelings, or sensations. Embrace all mental experiences without concern, remorse, or regret.'
Markle concluded in her post, 'I urge you to give it a shot. The worst thing that can happen is that you gave yourself ten minutes of quiet in an endlessly loud world. Shhhhh……it feels good.'
Sounds good to us.
