The major difference between Kate's first official solo outing with the Queen, and Meghan's, is that the Duchess of Cambridge had already been married to Prince William for almost a year when she attended the engagement. While Meghan wore custom Givenchy for her solo outing with the Queen, Kate opted for a teal suit by L.K.Bennett, with a James Lock hat. Notably, Meghan didn't wear a hat for her day trip with Queen Elizabeth, striking a much more casual look than the Duchess of Cambridge did.
The Duchesses may have very different styles, but the Queen seemed impressed and content attending royal events with both Meghan and Kate.
