Got a penchant soulful R&B singers whose music actually makes you feel something? Then you should be paying attention to Jorja Smith. While the 20-year-old songstress is only just releasing her debut album Lost & Found later this week (8 June), she’s been on most people's radar for quite some time now, bagging herself the Brits Critic’s Choice Award earlier this year. Previous winners of this prestigious accolade include Adele, Florence and the Machine and Sam Smith, so as you can imagine, we’re expecting to see Jorja go on to do some pretty big things.

Collaborating with everyone from Drake to Stormzy, Jorja’s music is bringing soul back into the charts and we couldn’t be happier about it. The best part? She’s completely independent and doing things on her own terms.

If you haven’t already, we recommend adding all of Jorja’s songs to your commute playlist ASAP (her new track “February 3rd” is a good place to start), but for those of you who are already big fans, go the next level and check out Jorja’s own favourite songs for musical inspiration. These are the songs that had a significant impact on her life and drove her to pursue music, so listen up.
