Peter Do is a relative newcomer to the New York Fashion Week schedule, in so much as the designer has never put on a proper runway show. The brand was only launched in 2018. So, considering this was a debut of sorts, and in Brooklyn's Greenpoint neighbourhood no less - meaning editors and influencers alike had to schlep out of Manhattan - the turn-out was impressive.

There's clearly something deeply alluring about the LVMH prize finalist's effortless tailoring. Or, perhaps it's got something to do with the fact he trained under a legend, because for two years Do worked at Céline, under Phoebe Philo. Whatever it is, it's clearly a strong draw, because editors, fashion darlings and influencers turned out in droves for the SS22 show.

And not for no reason, because it turns out the clothes really were worth the hype and have since been 'grammed and regrammed thousands of times.

So just what is it that makes Do's seventh collection the one to invest in? Well, it's likely the fresh take on tailoring. Given that we've spent the last year and a half cooped up inside impossibly cramped spaces, working from our kitchen tables wearing a shirt (if we're feeling extra professional), but more likely joggers and a soup-stained tee, there's just something about the promise of a 'back-to-school' September, which might actually include box fresh workwear as we consider setting foot in real offices, that feels extra exciting.

And, together with four other fashion industry pals, it seems Vietnamese-born Peter Do has developed the kind of fluidly elegant work essentials that have people literally salivating.

From silk dress-shirts, to oversize blazers in the softest beiges and oatmeals with subtle cut-out details on the back, this is the kind of luxe-but-lightweight boss-wear that we want to invest in.

Luckily for you, Do's clothes are already available on Net-A-Porter, so one assumes this collection will land there too as it drops next year.
