Getting Ready With India Amarteifio
‘Cool, modern, sexy, structured and sophisticated,’ is how 22-year-old actor India Amarteifio describes Nicolas Ghesquière's Louis Vuitton shortly after the house's spring/summer 2024 show on the penultimate day of Paris Fashion Week. Dashing through the City of Lights, finding a moment to speak to ELLE UK, she talks us through how she came to decide what to wear for the Paris headliner, getting ready in stylish surroundings and the one piece from the collection she can't wait to get her hands on.
‘The look made me feel very secure, structured, safe, sexy and elegant, which I guess embodies Vuitton. It was quite versatile in the sense that it was elevated but also quite casual and laid back.’
‘This outfit was an instant yes. Myself and my stylist, Holly White, went to the showroom in London and there were a couple of options but this was where my eyes went to. The look had the kind of presence and energy I wanted to bring to the show. We went with our gut and what looked right and I'm very happy with the final look.’
‘My favourite look was definitely the strapless monochrome look. I think it could be really interchangeable and versatile with a long skirt or trousers.’
‘My favourite thing to do in Paris is walk around with my sunglasses on, especially because it's a really beautiful day today. I like to go to a boulangerie and get an emmental sandwich and sit in the park and watch the day go by. I also love a quick visit to The Frankie Shop, which I am currently on the way to!’
‘I thought the atmosphere was really electric at the show, which says a lot about the brand. I think my favourite part was getting to meet the other actors and talent that were there.’
‘Someone going to their first fashion show should know to expect not to be there very long, because they are so quick. Really take in every model from head to toe that comes through and have a very open mind going into it and be prepared to be surprised.’
‘It’s very, very surreal to be invited to sit FROW at a show like Louis Vuitton. I am an actor. So, the fashion world to me is very new. It's all very exciting. I mean, it's not only that, but I am short sighted so it's very helpful that I can actually see the models! But the fact that I get to wear the pieces and be so up close with the designers and to get a real feel of the pieces is a massive honour.’
