The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have arrived in Ireland as part of a three-day royal tour of the Emerald Isle.
Kate Middleton and Prince William will visit the capital Dublin as well as County Meath, County Kildare and Galway.
The visit is an official one, at the request of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, and will highlight the many strong links between the UK and Ireland, an official Kensington Palace release states.
The last royals to visit Ireland were the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, who headed to Dublin in the summer of 2018 on their first official engagement since their royal wedding, where they met the President, Taoisech, visited Trinity College and watched young people play a game of Gaelic football.
In 2011, the Queen made a historic visit to Ireland, where she made a landmark speech offering sympathy to the victims of Ireland and the UK's troubled past. Kensington Palace says this 2020 trip will look to build upon the theme of 'remembrance and reconciliation' between the two nations.
