Celebrities Attending Their First BRIT Awards: From Beyoncé And Rihanna To Adele

The BRIT awards are celebrating 41 years of the British music industry this evening.
Held at the O2 arena, in one of the first live shows since the pandemic, and will be treated as such under the government's new pilot Covid-19 safe test scheme for the return of live events, the most nominated artists include Dua Lipa, AJ Tracey, J Hus, Celeste, Ariana Grande and Jessie Ware as well as performances by Lipa, Coldplay, The Weeknd, Arlo Parks and P!nk.
So, with the stars out in force, we're likely to witness some great fashion moments too. Beyoncé, Rihanna and Kim Kardashian are just some of the names who have attended the London ceremony, walked the red carpet, performed and introduced artists over the years.
So ahead of tonight's event, with nostalgia in the air, we take a look back at 30 stars' very first BRIT awards.
Naomi Campbell - 1993
The supermodel attended the BRITs in 1993 and presented the group Shakespeare's Sister with the best 'British Video' gong.
The Spice Girls - 1995
Geri Halliwell, Victoria Beckham, Emma Bunton, Mel B and Mel C attended their first BRITs in 1995, two years before their historic Union Jack-dress clad performance.
Madonna - 1995
Performing her single 'Bedtime Story' at the 1995 show, a blonde Madonna for which she reportedly wore a white Versace plisse dress with diamond panels.
Kylie Minogue - 1997
The Australian singer wore a pink silk dress to the 1997 awards.
Billie Piper - 1999
The singer-turned-actor's 1999 look was nineties glam through and through, from the blush red cheeks to the dark red lipstick and cut-out satin jumpsuit.
Pink - 2000
The 'What About Us?' singer - who received the 'Outstanding Contribution To Music Award' at last year's ceremony and celebrated with a medley of her biggest hits - first attended the ceremony in 2000.
Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland And Michelle Williams - 2001
The trio, who regularly co-ordinated their outfits in music videos and on the red carpet, attended the awards in 2001 and performed 'Independent Women' on stage.
In 2002, the trio won the Best International Group award and 17 years later Bey won the same award - this time with husband Jay-Z for their duo The Carters. Bey and Jay famously accepted the award via a video link standing in front of a portrait of Meghan Markle.
Heidi Klum - 2002
The model and TV host wore a slip dress when she attended the celebration of British music in the early noughties.
Scarlett Johansson - 2002
The Oscar-nominated actress graced the BRITs red carpet with her presence back in 2004 wearing a Roberto Cavalli beaded gold mini dress.
Thandie Newton - 2003
The Westworld actor wore a grecian style white halter floor length dress to the music event in 2003.
Gwen Stefani - 2004
Fresh out of her 'No Doubt' days and establishing her solo career, Stefani posed for pictures in 2004 before taking to the stage for a power performance with Alicia Keys and Missy Elliot.
Alicia Keys - 2004
The singer wore a white skirt suit with lace applique, which she co-ordinated with red accessories, including a bag, earrings, shoes and bralette!
Minnie Driver - 2005
Side fringe, check. Sheer frill top, check. Light wash bootcut jeans, check. Mini bag, check. Pointed stilletos, check. It's Minnie Driver at the 2005 BRITs!
Paris Hilton - 2006
You know its 2006 when Paris Hilton walks the red carpet with big hair, a babydoll tassle dress and presents the International Best Album Award to Green Day. So much nostalgia.
Alexa Chung - 2007
The model and designer first attended the BRITs in 2007, with a Louis Vuitton handbag in tow.
Lily Allen - 2007
The 'LDN' singer walked the Earls Court red carpet with her actor dad, Keith, wearing her signature 2000s Lily Allen look: block fringe, bow in hair and bandeau satin prom dress.
Adele - 2008
Adele has had many memorable BRITs moments over the years, from the moving performance of 'Someone Like You' to flipping the bird at producers when she was cut off during her acceptance speech but it all started here in 2008.
Rihanna - 2008
Rihanna has been one of the BRIT awards most iconic performers over the years (we all remember that 'Work' performance with Drake, right?) but her first BRITs was back in 2009 when she wore a strapless Dolce & Gabbana silver mini dress.
Taylor Swift - 2009
The pop star attended her first BRITs in 2009 at Earl's Court, where she wore a strapless sequin mini dress by Kaufman Franco.
Katy Perry - 2009
As well as Swift, another star attended their first BRITs in 2008 with Katy Perry wearing a PVC-clad outfit for the show.
