We might only be one full month into 2025, but it's already been quite the year as far as celebrity engagements go. If the rumours – and numerous, not-so-subtle hints – are to be believed, Zendaya and Tom Holland are newly betrothed, as are Dua Lipa and Callum Turner. Not that either have officially confirmed the news, of course: it seems we are living in an era of the quiet celebrity engagement, leaving us to do most of the digging for ourselves.
Zendaya's nonchalant display of a Jessica McCormack east-west diamond ring at the Golden Globes practically broke the internet back in January, while rumours around Dua Lipa's potential engagement have been swirling since the end of last year, when eagle-eyed fans spotted a suitably sizeable sparkler on her left hand in a number of Instagram photos.

And now, after months of endless zooming-in, we've finally been treated to a front-row view of the ring in question, courtesy of Dua Lipa's latest Instagram photo dump.
In what seems to be the closest we're going to get to a full-scale confirmation from Dua that she is, in fact, engaged, the star shared a selfie with her left hand raised, showing off a gold ring featuring a large diamond.
While no jewellery brand has come forward to claim the design as their own as yet, we can confirm that the pictured style is known in the jewellery industry as a 'gypsy ring'. This refers to a chunky, yellow-gold band embedded with one or more stones – and it's a style that has been trending of late.
'Dua's ring is not a conventional choice but it is extremely elegant and quite on-trend,' explains jeweller Rachel Boston. 'We've seen a lot of our clients in the past year or two especially gravitating towards wider and more gold-heavy bands.'
As for the stone itself, Dua's looks like a round, solitaire diamond, estimated to be between 2–2.50 carats in weight. 'The diamond's half-rubover setting really frames the stone beautifully: it is still very much centre-stage, holding its own amongst all the gold, and the open setting feels modern and feminine in contrast to the heavier band,' Boston says.
Now that the gypsy engagement ring style has had the Dua Lipa stamp of approval, no doubt we'll be seeing similar designs popping up all over the place in the coming months. Feeling inspired and want to get ahead of the trend? We've found the best gypsy rings to shop now:
