Kim Kardashian delighted Met Gala fans on Monday evening, arriving at the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s annual fundraising event wearing a pearl-adorned naked dress.

The shapewear mogul stepped into a custom-made Schiaparelli dress, that consists mainly of strings of pearls, and a nude corset.

The mother-of-four added a voluminous cape to the high-fashion ensemble.

Her 'Met moment' comes days after she arrived at the Time 100 gala wearing a vintage ivory satin John Galliano slip dress, styled with crystal necklaces and a pearlescent Chanel clutch bag, designed by the late Karl Lagerfeld for the SS12 runway collection. The nod gave fans a hint as to what they could expect to see from the beauty mogul at the Met Gala, given the theme this year asked for attendees to dress ‘in honour of Karl’.

In the last week Kardashian also shared clues about her Met Gala outfit, most recently sharing photos on Instagram of herself at Lagerfeld’s Paris-based office where she was ‘getting a little inspiration for the Met’ by lying on a bed with the late designer’s cat Choupette.

The reality star’s Met Gala 2023 look comes a year since the entrepreneur stunned sartorial enthusiasts across the globe when she turned up to the event with bleached blonde hair (which took 14 hours to dye, we might add) and controversially slipped into a sparkly gold dress once worn by Marilyn Monroe for the actor's performance of ‘Happy Birthday’ to President John F Kennedy on his 45th birthday in 1961.

The dress, which Kardashian admitted to changing her eating and fitness habits in order to fit into, in question was sketched by designer Bob Mackie for the Hollywood costume designer Jean Louis, and featured over 6,000 crystals. To this day, it holds the record for being the most expensive dress sold at auction (a smooth $4.8 million in 2016), and was loaned by Ripley’s Believe It Or Not Museum to Kardashian last year.

Over the years Kardashian and her family have dominated the Met Gala steps in an array of archival and bespoke designs.

For her first Met Gala appearance in 2013, the then Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci created a figure-hugging floral-pattern gown for the mother-of-four when she was pregnant with her first child, North.

Lanvin, Roberto Cavalli, Balmain, Vivienne Westwood, Versace, Mugler, and that now-famous Balenciaga all-black ensemble came in the years that followed.
