Confirming that even members of the royal family appreciate the importance of International Women's Day was Meghan Markle, who arrived for a panel discussion at King's College London earlier today.

The Duchess wore a thematically appropriate white printed dress by Reiss, a black blazer and matching stilettos to attend the talk hosted by herself, model and activist Adwoa Aboah and singer Annie Lennox, amongst others.

Never one to miss a chance to contribute her time to a worthy cause, the mother-to-be continued her recent humanitarian work and celebrated her new role of Vice President of The Queen's Commonwealth Trust by attending the discussion wearing Suffragette white.

Instituted by Emmeline Pankhurst in 1908, white swiftly became the symbolic colour of the Suffragette movement and in turn has been adopted by feminist movements all over the world.

The new royal finished the smart casual look with her new go-to beehive hairstyle and a pair of delicate Jessica McCormack hoop earrings.

Whether intentional or not (although it would be quite a coincidence...), we love that the 37-year-old chose to show her support for her fellow women through her sartorial choices.

This isn't the first time that Meghan has used her royal wardrobe to champion other women. The former actress chose Creative Director of Givenchy, Claire Waight-Keller, to design her wedding dress and opted for a Stella McCartney gown as her change of outfit for the evening reception.

Markle is also a royal patron for charity Smart Works who provide unemployed women with interview coaching and personalised styling. The Duchess visited the organisation earlier this year to help style women in preparation for job interviews, showing once again that clothes can have the power to change women's lives.

Here's to Meghan publicly supporting women and subverting the idea that clothes are merely an outfit.
