Michaela Coel is to be honoured with the Pandora Leader of Change Award at The Fashion Awards 2023. Already a recipient of BAFTA and Emmy Awards, this fresh accolade will honour the British-Ghanaian writer, actor and director for her 'screenwriting, acting and filmmaking, which consistently challenges the status quo and wholeheartedly centres around the female perspective and experience.'

A statement from the British Fashion Council confirmed that the Chewing Gum and I May Destroy You creator's body of work, which 'challenges and centres on themes of race, class, and gender while telling the authentic and complex stories of Black women and queer identities,' aligns perfectly with the principles of this new award, while also considering the 36-year-old's 'unwavering commitment to championing female empowerment and authentic representation.'
