Gen Z's love for Y2K fashion is no secret. And so it follows that one of the generation's main It-girls, Olivia Rodrigo, is also a fan of the era's distinct trends. Last year, Olivia famously went full-2000s at a Grammys after-party she attended with Paris Hilton, where she repped a bright blue butterfly dress featuring a plunging neckline and dramatic ruffles. Now, for her latest look, she's gone and repped another recognisable combination: silk trousers and a leather boob tube.
This week, Olivia attended the 2023 Billboard Women in Music Awards and, on the night, she presented Lana Del Rey with the prestigious Visionary Award. For the occasion, Olivia opted for a retro-inspired outfit that takes us back to the early Noughties. 2001, to be specific. The look in question features a cropped brown leather-looking tube top teamed with a pair of low-rise, wide-leg trousers. The bottoms are actually vintage Chloé, designed by Stella McCartney.
On one side of the leg, you can also see the piece has a pretty massive horse motif - a nod to the brand's equestrian aesthetic. Olivia styled the combo with a pair of gold platform heels and very minimalist jewellery.

Now, if you think these trousers look familiar, chances are you're also a Sex and the City fan, because Carrie Bradshaw wore the exact same pair in season four (which, the die-hard fans among us will also know, aired in 2001). At the end of the episode titled 'Coulda, Woulda, Shoulda', Carrie wears these horsey trousers when she's chatting with Aidan.
Yes, we love a throwback look, and this Olivia outfit is pretty epic.
