Schiaparelli has named Daniel Roseberry as its new artistic director. The US designer replaces Bertrand Guyon who announced his departure on 19 April.
Roseberry joins the storied fashion house from Thom Browne, where he has worked for the past 11 years, the latter five as design director of both womenswear and menswear. Born in Texas, he studied at New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology before starting his career at Thom Browne.
“It is my great honour and my joy to pick up where Mme. Schiaparelli left off some 85 years ago,” Roseberry said in a statement. “Schiaparelli was a master of the modern; her work reflected the chaos and hope of the turbulent era in which she lived.

While his appointment might be a surprise choice for many, Schiaparelli owner Diego Della Valle praised Roseberry for his "modern and innovative creative vision".
The brand itself has undergone a creative shift in recent years - in October 2018, it launched a 'pret-a-couture' collection with selected pieces available to buy now. The label has also attracted a celebrity following with fans including Tilda Swinton, Cate Blanchett and Gwyneth Paltrow.
