One of the biggest issues the fashion industry faces right now is sustainability - how can we reduce the environmental impact of our wardrobes?
We’re all looking to shop a bit smarter and Lindex, the Swedish brand dedicated to creating affordable, ethical fashion, is at the forefront of this movement. They have a 2020 goal of making 80 per cent of their garments from more sustainable sources. They also want to get us thinking about our own fashion choices.
“Many people only use a small part of their wardrobe, which is not sustainable,” says Pia Ekholm, Design and Buying Manager. “We want everyone to have a wardrobe with clothes that they really love, take good care of and use often.”

It's time to say goodbye to those manic mornings spent surrounded by a carpet full of clothing, but with nothing to wear. We spoke to the team at Lindex about how to streamline your wardrobe.
1. Find your style
While this might sound obvious, how far do you see your style actually reflected in your wardrobe? If your Instagram feed is filled with minimalist looks but your wardrobe is awash with bright patterns and exaggerated silhouettes bought on a whim, it might be time to hit reset.
Put trends to one side and instead consider the styles and silhouettes that make you feel your best. Create a wardrobe filled with great quality, well-fitting staples that encapsulate this style, that you can then build the rest of your outfits around.
2. Nail your colours
Whether you’re more 50 Shades of Grey or Pretty in Pink, fill your wardrobe with colours you’ll love and wear. For the more classic palette, neutral colours like blacks, greys and (conveniently on-trend) beiges will ensure every item in your wardrobe works together easily.
Or, if you prefer a sunny array of more colourful pieces, up the wearability of your wardrobe with tones that complement one another. Opt for a bright twist on traditional monochrome; varying shades from the same palette, such as pinks, purples and reds, will pair seamlessly to create a stylish tonal look.
3. Add your extra special favourites
Once you’ve built the foundations of your streamlined wardrobe, it’s time to add in those little extras. Look for great quality, trend-driven pieces, or hero items you can’t get enough of: the perfect summer dress, the statement earrings, the wear-anywhere jumpsuit. Think of these extra special favourites as the icing on the very well-dressed cake.
