As ever, the Parisian space was completely transformed, this time into a winter wonderland that he had named 'Chalet Gardenia'.

ELLE UK's Cat Callendar, present for the momentous occasion said of the atmosphere in the alpine setting, 'That crispness that you get in the mountains and the uplifting feel that you get skiing or in a snowy environment is what is going on here. It is sad, yes as this is a post Karl moment, but the feeling in here is uplifting and light.'

The show was prefaced with a sombre and respectful minute of silence, before one of Lagerfeld's most beloved muses opened the show - Cara Delevingne.

'Every time I try and write about this man, all i do is cry. He changed my life, he believed in me when so many others didn’t including myself.' Delevingne said of Lagerfeld in a moving Instagram post. 'He is a visionary, a genius but more than that.... a dear friend. Outside of fashion, he was one of the most interesting and caring men I have ever met... His legacy will live on forever. I miss you more than I could ever try and describe. I wish I had been able to tell you how much you meant to me.'
