It may be winter outside, with the snow falling on the roof of the Grand Palais, but inside the Chanel SS19 Haute Couture Show, it's most certainly spring.
Karl Lagerfeld, as ever, transformed the Grand Palais in Paris, into his own sartorial playground, this time transporting the fabulous and fashionable to a palm-tree-surrounded mediterranean Villa Chanel.
Complete with a stone double staircase, elaborate water feature and plenty of topiary, the atmosphere was that of a positively regal paradise. Which was fitting, since 17 year-old Kaia Gerber - model royalty - opened the show, sporting an ornate pastel pink beaded gown, with a reimagined grey feather bustle.

Paired with kitten heeled '80s pointed boots, the 19th century-style dress was topped with New Romantic Bowie-inspired hair and make-up, recasting Gerber as a 1980s Marie Antoinette (as opposed to a 1780's one).
Bold power shoulders, bubble hems and a dash of bright coral-red lipstick provided just the right amount of Working Girl, whilst ever-present tweed, alongside ornate beading and fabulous feathers kept the fashion house's Couture show as chic, and timeless, as ever.
Stand-out items from the magnificent spectacle included the Pretty In Pink layered lace dress Molly Ringwald deserved, and the bridal swimsuit, complete with bejewelled swim-cap and train - perhaps what the last Queen of France would have worn to her Bahamas wedding?
