From soap nails to ballerina pinks, 2025 has seen numerous variations of clean, high-shine manicures dominating both our algorithms and red carpets. And it’s no surprise: ‘there’s something timeless and elevated about soft, glossy pinks that enhance your natural nail rather than hide it,’ explains celebrity manicurist Iram Shelton. ‘Plus, these manicures go with any occasion and any nail length and shape.’
While the desire for these universally flattering pinks quickly piqued the interest of the internet, it has now captured the attention of its resident beauty trendsetter, Hailey Bieber. Recently seen sporting a metallic version (dubbed the ‘strawberry glazed doughnut’), Bieber's new set offers a natural aesthetic but with a twist.
And her timing is impeccable; for a minimalistic yet elevated look, this latest version of celebrity-approved pink transitions perfectly from spring to summer.

What are ‘strawberry glazed doughnut’ nails?
Though famously revered for her viral ‘glazed doughnut’ nails back in 2022, Bieber’s current manicure seems to be a new iteration, in a new flavour. Keeping elements of the old fan-favourite – which was a sheer, barely-there base topped with metallic chrome – she’s now using a gorgeous pearly-pink hue instead (hence ‘strawberry glazed doughnut’).
As an ode to the original, this too reflects its name, emulating the frosty coating of a glazed doughnut using a shimmery top coat.
To create the design, Bieber’s nail tech Zola Ganzorigt looked to OPI’s GELevate and Intelli-Gel ranges – namely the shades ‘Pink Over-Slay’ and ‘Supercute Colour’, according to a tutorial shared on Instagram. But the star is OPI’s Tin Man Can chrome powder, which Ganzorigt buffed across the nail as a final touch, to achieve that ultra-shiny finish.
How to recreate ‘strawberry glazed doughnut’ nails
According to Shelton, prepping the nails is essential to creating a clean, dry base. ‘Start by pushing back your cuticles. Then gently buff the surface, and wipe your nails clean with a polish remover to get rid of any oils,’ she says.

Once you’ve chosen your pink shade for a milky, semi-transparent base, Shelton offers a trick to achieving Bieber’s colour: ‘layer it lightly with essie’s Blush Jelly, if you want a tiny bit more strawberry tone.’
As for the essential chrome coating, top it with a sheer, metallic topcoat once your base has dried. ‘Glazed Chrome from essie gives a subtle, pearly shimmer which mimics the glazed look,’ explains Shelton. ‘Finish with a clear top coat for that glass-like shine and longwear, then a cuticle oil.’
