As the self-titled Emily in Emily In Paris, Lily Collins serves up next level beauty look after next level beauty look, one internet-breaking episode at a time. Raven-haired, with eyebrows even Cara Delevingne would do bad things for, and a seemingly endless array of berry lipsticks (and berets) at her disposal, as Emily, Collins is the epitome of classic French beauty. But, in real life, the newlywed likes to shake things up a bit.

Smash cut to ELLE UK's December/January cover shoot and the glossy Parisian waves and sophisticated but sensible lipstick are gone. In their place? A fierce icy white platinum pixie crop that's part Game of Thrones Daenerys Targaryen, part Edie Sedgwick and more than a little Michelle Williams. In short, it's epic.

'Because Lily’s hair was changed to blonde I created looks that had to work with the short hair,' explains make-up artist Polly Osmond, who used Lancôme to transform Collins into a grunge mod ice queen for ELLE. 'I looked at punk and Peggy Moffitt, but also wanted a softer, more futuristic edge, so used the pearls and shine to create that.'

Ethereal, embellished and decked out entirely in white, Collins cover star look is going straight on our sartorial to-do list. 'We went for the pearls and face lace to create a modern take on the original reference,' Osmond continues. 'What I love about them is they are super easy to use, they are stick on and pull off and you can create looks without it getting tricky.'

Don't even get us started on that skin. 'Lily has great skin so I used Lancôme Hydra Zen moisturiser which is nice and hydrating, and for foundation I used the Teint Miracle which gives a beautiful luminosity.' Simply apply your choice of embellishments after perfecting your flawless base, slick on some chunky sixties mascara and a swipe of vinyl lip gloss and you're good to go.
