Every Major Hair Look From Fashion Week SS25

These runway crops are set to become autumn's most coveted

By

The fact is, no Pinterest board or TikTok trend can emulate the artistry and buzz backstage at Fashion Week. And really, there is no better place to source new-season inspiration than behind-the-scenes at some of the biggest runway shows, where some of the most acclaimed hairstylists gather to predict the hair trends we will soon see everywhere.

Kicking off the fashion week carousel, New York Fashion Week SS25 was a far cry away from previous seasons, and unlike the minimalist shows of old came a return to maximalist beauty and major hair moments. Big, elaborate updos, wet-look finishes and a new bob (coined the 'banged bob') have taken centre stage. And a common thread is currently running throughout London Fashion Week too, where it seems the message is also 'bigger equals better'. Lavish hair looks are taking centre stage, from Harris Reed's doll-like curls and soft, textured bobs to Chet Lo's crimped extensions and blue brows.

Below, discover every hair look worthy of your attention for the upcoming season.

1

Maximalist Bows - LFW

Thought we were done with maximalist bows this season? Not quite. For Chopova Lowena, paired with neon eye make-up and maroon braids, they shed their cutesy moniker and take on a grungier and cooler aesthetic.

Intricate Spirals - LFW

A new way to wear spirals, intricate and artistic curls with braided top knots were another star hair look at Chopova Lowena.

Au Naturel

Away from the maximalist hair moments, it was all about natural textures and normcore cuts at Feben's SS25 show, with soft waves, buzzcuts and middle partings which allowed the Brat colour palette to shine through.

Floral Headpieces - LFW

Trust Harris Reed to deliver one of the most beautiful hair and make-up moments at London Fashion Week. With doll-like lips and ethereal skin which came inspired by French silhouettes, giant floral headpieces became works of art in their own right.

The Textured Bob - LFW

Reed also made a case for the textured bob, with a soft flick to add volume and definition, alongside a more elaborate curled fringe.

Blue Brows - LFW

Superseding the skinny brows of seasons gone by, Chet Lo declared colourful eyebrows as the unexpected trend of the season. Slicked-back, textured waves and no make-up make-up allowed the brows to take centre stage.

Colourful Extensions - LFW

While blue has taken over the make-up mood during Fashion Week, it also formed the colour of choice for hair at Chet Lo, where crimped extensions in electric blue were paired with poker-straight ends and middle partings.

The Anti-Bob - NYFW

For those with a serious case of bob ennui, an anti-trend has been quietly brewing. And if you needed proof, Naomi Campbell has just confirmed that extra-long hair is officially back on our radar, after debuting hip-length, poker straight hair on the Ralph Lauren runway in New York.

From micro-fringes to ultra short crops, Kendall Jenner has had quite the list of hair transformations of late. For the Alaïa runway, Jenner switched up her mane once again, with a slicked-back look which mimicked a faux pixie effect from the front with a sleek and straight long ponytail at the back.

Artful Waves - NYFW

Elaborate updos and clever artful lines were on the beauty mood board at Laquan Smith SS25, and are easily recreated via a styling gel, extra-hold hairspray and a few failsafe hair tools.

Micro-fringes are fast superseding choppy bangs as the ultimate autumn hairstyle to keep on your radar this season. You need only look to Naeem Khan's runway where pixie cuts and blunt micro-fringes reigned supreme.

The Flicked-Out Bob - NYFW

We've seen the flicked-out bob before (namely thanks to the likes of Lily Collins and America Ferrera) but the next-season iteration is even more exaggerated and paired with a slick middle parting, a la Carolina Herrera.

Proof that the 'skinifcation' of hair is only growing stronger, glass hair - ultra-shiny ends that epitomise hair health - is a firm fixture on the runway this season, particularly for Ralph Lauren, where models' hair centred upon an ultra-shiny, light-reflecting finish.

Maximalist Floral Bows - NYFW

The runway-meets-restaurant where guests became the show wasn't the only surprise at Eckhaus Latta's SS25 unveiling; the models hair was an equally unique turn with dyed bows and mismatch topknots taking centre stage.
