Forever serving up haute couture romance to the max, Rodarte is the ethereal escapism we're always looking forward to at fashion week.
Choosing to show their AW19 collection off-schedule in LA, the Mulleavy sisters wowed once again.
A riot of rainbow-coloured tulle ruffles, flouncy puffball sleeves and Dorothy's red glitter slippers, the show was all things 80s maximalism with the signature fantastical Rodarte twist.

In a word, it was beautiful.
As always, the make-up and hair were just as extra and Instagram-worthy as the collection itself. Continuing last season's story of straight up romance was hairstylist Odile Gilbert who gave models wanton curls adorned with everything from sprays of silver painted flowers and electric blue beaded berets, to glitter-covered sun hats and tropical plumes.
'[It's] the old Hollywood sophistication of full-bodied, textured waves with a nod to the '70s,' Gilbert explained backstage. 'And the hair accessories give it a beautiful elegance.'
The result? A Jerry Hall-inspired take on the classic perm with a pastel palette of eccentric wedding guest-ready fascinators and flowers.
Inspired by the lush LA surroundings, make-up artist James Kaliardos imagined up a matchy-matchy glitter make-up look that riffed on last season's primary colour paintbox eyes and lips.
'The make-up for this show was inspired by the vibrant glitter from classic Hollywood musicals,' confirmed Kaliardos. We're talking monochrome glitter-pressed lips and eyelids.
Kaliardos gave models youthful, fresh-looking skin courtesy of NARS Sheer Glow Foundation ('It really does the trick to make the skin look flawless') and a sweep of the new NARS Mosaic Glow Blush (available in March), before adding the finishing sparkle.

When testing the Wizard Of Oz-esque look, Kaliardos was originally just going to paint on jewel-toned shades of lipstick, but decided instead to go all out and get the glitter involved. Layers of colour co-ordinated NARS Powermatte Lip Pigment were painted on to models eyes and mouths before scarlet, blush and berry glitter pigments were pressed on top.
Equal parts high fashion and fun, with just a dash of OTT, Rodarte's more-is-more collection kicked off fashion month with a serving of pure joy.
Or as Kaliardos puts it, 'But that's the beauty of Kate and Laura, they love make-up and always appreciate the strength it can give a woman.'
Vive la Rodarte!
