Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco have been showing us different sides of their love story with the music they’ve released so far. There was the romantic “Scared of Loving You,” the playful “Call Me When You Break Up” with Gracie Abrams, and now, the very sensual “Sunset Blvd.” The couple dropped the new track at midnight ahead of their joint album, I Said I Love You First, debuting next Friday.
The airy pop tune has some cheeky lyrics, with Gomez singing in the pre-chorus, “I can’t wait to hold it, to hold that, your big, big, hard... heart.” There’s also some intimate imagery in the refrain: “With open arms, holding you naked, middle of Sunset Boulevard.”
The video takes a sillier tone, however, as Gomez sings beside a miniature-sized Blanco.
She even gobbles him up at the end.
Despite the suggestive lyrics, the name of the track is inspired by something far less explicit. “Our first date was on Sunset Blvd, and it’s also the title of our next song together,” Gomez revealed in an Instagram ahead of dropping the track. She also shared the first photo she and Blanco took together, a black-and-white snap of the two of them snuggling under a blanket.
