Spoilers below.

The eighth season of Love Is Blind might be its juiciest yet. While the show’s first six episodes feature more than one love triangle, the overlapping relationships between Madison, Mason, Meg, and Alex arguably created the most drama. So what exactly happened between Love Is Blind’s fascinating foursome? Did Meg and Mason meet up after the pods? And did any of the love square’s potential couples end up together?

Madison fought to show Alex her commitment.

Commercial real estate broker Alex and artist Madison hit it off in the pods. However, their romance quickly took a turn in episode 2 when they discussed attachment styles. When Madison revealed she was avoidant, Alex shared that it was “kind of a trigger” for him based on past relationships. “I’m more anxious,” he explained. “I feel like I’m not good enough. And so I want you to show me that, yes, you care about me, and that you are not abandoning me.”

Explaining why Madison’s “avoidant” nature could be problematic for him, Alex said, “And for you, it’s like, ‘Let me get away and be on my own because I don’t need you to show me that I’m good enough.’” As a result, Alex suggested that, in a romantic relationship, they might encounter some issues.

Worried that Alex was pulling away from her, Madison decided to show him how she felt. In episode 3, Alex entered his pod to find Madison’s “Bearlien,” a fluorescent green stuffed toy she sleeps next to every night. “She is my most prized possession,” Madison told him. Alex was thrilled he could borrow the toy for the night, and he expressed his excitement to the other male contestants. One person commented, “He’s getting married, for sure,” while another told him, “You’re not gonna sleep a wink tonight.”

Mason was won over by Madison’s NSFW comments.

Cinematographer Mason and Madison started to develop a very flirty relationship in the pods. In episode 2, after Madison shared she used to play volleyball, Mason revealed that the uniform would be his biggest turn-on. “You’re driving me crazy when you say things like that,” he told her. The pair also discussed mini skirts, with Mason suggesting the clothing item was a particular weakness for him. “I’d come over and just give you a little lap dance,” Madison told him.

The flirting continued in episode 4 when Mason asked Madison what she likes to eat, to which she replied, “I’m definitely a savory girl. I don’t usually have, like, a huge sweet tooth. Aside from a cream pie.” She continued, “I love cream pies.” Mason was pleasantly surprised by Madison’s innuendo, and told her, “I do too. Let’s put it that way...They’re great.”

Meg only had ears for Mason.

Meg and Mason had a fairly organic connection in the pods, and they bonded over a diverse range of topics, including aliens and hoaxes. But in episode 3, Meg confronted her pod partner about his feelings. “When I leave the pods...I feel more confident,” she explained. She added that she “really likes” Mason, so she wants to make sure he wasn’t “confused” about his feelings. Mason reassured her immediately, saying, “Meg, I’ve never connected with anyone really the way that I’ve been connecting with you.” He continued, “It’s kind of surreal. I told you I feel like you’re not even real.’”

However, back in the men’s quarters, Mason shared that Meg wasn’t his “top person,” which “makes things very difficult.” While speaking to some of the other female contestants, Meg shared that she would be disappointed if Mason didn’t choose her, but she’d be happy that he found the person he was meant to be with.

Madison struggled to make her choice, but chose Alex.

In episode 3, Madison told Alex she was still dating one other person besides him. She also confirmed she wasn’t “even upset” that her other match was dating another person, too. Madison took that moment to go all in on Alex, telling him, “I love your voice. I love how thoughtful you are. Literally, like, feeling all the feels.”

Later in the episode, Madison expressed some guilt for continuing to talk to Mason, especially knowing how Meg felt about him. “And for her, like, you’re it,” Madison told Mason. She then proceeded to suggest that Mason was perhaps more into Meg, as he hadn’t provided her with as much affirmation as Alex had. “Mads, what we have is real,” Mason told her. He continued, “I’ve never felt this way about someone. You do mean a lot to me.” In episode 4, Mason emphasized his feelings, telling Madison, “You are the person that I’m thinking about.” He later told her that he was fully committed to her.

In episode 4, Alex and Madison decided to make their relationship official, and announced their status as boyfriend and girlfriend to their fellow contestants. “She’s breaking up with my guy,” Meg said after learning Alex had asked Madison to become his girlfriend.

Madison blindsided Mason.

In episode 5, Madison told Mason that she could no longer continue dating him as she’d found a boyfriend in the pods. “I was able to get there faster with someone else,” she told him. Mason seemingly tried to backtrack on the declarations of love he’d made, telling her, “I feel like I added some unnecessary pressure when I told you that I, like, was committing to you. When I said it, I didn’t know if it felt right.” He continued, “It was an unfair thing to do to both the people I was seeing.”

Madison was understandably angry that Mason tried to take back some of the things he’d told her, explaining, “I don’t know why you would say that if you didn’t mean it.” She also suggested that his elusiveness had made her wary of his proclamations. “I just think you were probably saying very similar things to both of us,” she told him. She continued, “Obviously, it’s not my conversation to have but, you know, Meg and I did talk. I think you, kind of, just tried to keep two good things going at once, and might have lost both of them.”

Meg worried she’d never know whether Mason would have picked her.

After Madison revealed she was exclusively dating Alex in episode 4, Meg told some of the other contestants she’d always have uncertainty regarding Mason. “There’s no way I’ll know now...Because now I might be the only option,” she explained.

In episode 5, Madison shared with Meg that Mason had “committed” to her prior to the breakup, saying, “And then today for him to be like, ‘I take that back.’ Based on what he told me, I don’t think you’ll be impressed.” Meg said her “pride” was hurt, but she was open to hearing Mason’s explanation.

In their final date in the pods, Meg told Mason she was “super bummed out because it definitely made me feel some type of way.” Mason responded by telling Meg that he had “validated Madison,” but “it just did not feel right.” “I clearly said it to the wrong person,” he explained. Meg expressed her uncertainty in knowing whether she was ever his “number one pick,” or his second “default” choice following Madison’s decision to date Alex.

Mason tried to fight for his relationship with Meg, telling her, “I can’t even explain how happy you’ve made me. Like, I got out of my fucking seat because of the conversations we were having multiple times.” Despite offering his “regret” at having prioritized Madison, Meg decided to walk away, but she told him not to apologize for his actions. “You were just following your heart,” she explained. “I just need something different.”

Alex and Madison split before getting engaged.

Alex and Madison found themselves at an impasse in the pods in episode 6. Alex defended Mason, whom he called his “friend,” saying, “Honestly, he was really devastated.” Madison noted she’d seen Mason’s “true colors at the end,” but Alex continued to defend him rather than validating Madison’s feelings. “He was telling me he told you something and, like, you had talked to his other connection and it screwed him over,” Alex said of the situation.

After Alex continually justified Mason’s actions, Madison said she felt “invalidated” by him. “I was hurt by him and it just sucks for you to be like, ‘Well, he’s so valid,’” she explained. While Alex eventually tried to change the conversation, Madison was clearly distracted and upset by her boyfriend’s comments. “I am having a hard time thinking future-minded right now,” she told him. Madison started crying, and communication began to break down between the pair. Eventually, Alex suggested that getting engaged would be a “pretty big jump,” and they simply weren’t ready for that sort of commitment.

Did Meg and Mason, or Alex and Madison, rekindle their romances after the pods?

In a teaser for the next batch of Love Is Blind episodes, Mason and Meg are seen arriving at a gathering holding hands. Meg tells the group, “The second I got my phone, I’m like, ‘How’s Mason?’” Madison is then seen saying, “He’s a huge liar.” It’s currently unclear whether Mason and Meg are still together, but it certainly seems as though they rekindled their relationship after leaving the pods.

As for Madison and Alex’s relationship, it seems unlikely that they decided to date after leaving the pods. However, we won’t know for certain until the rest of Love Is Blind season 8 has aired.
