The Freakier Friday press tour is officially underway, and Lindsay Lohan has already sartorially referenced herself not once, not twice, but three times—the mark of a legendary style repertoire.
Earlier this week in New York City, the actress was spotted arriving for press appearances on Good Morning America and LIVE With Kelly and Mark. For GMA, Lohan wore a canary yellow Balmain tweed ensemble with a matching headband and strappy heels. It’s difficult to spot yellow checked fabric and not immediately think of Cher in Clueless. However, it was actually a subtle blending of two different Annie looks from The Parent Trap: the first being Annie’s skirt suit when she’s dropped off at summer camp, and the second, her butter yellow sweater and accessories during the family reunion at the hotel. Lohan’s second look was a direct reference to the rambunctious Hallie, this time from Roberto Cavalli’s pre-fall 2025 collection. You’re not seeing double—you’re seeing Annie and Hallie Parker all grown up.
Both were styled by Andrew Mukamal, the genius behind Margot Robbie’s thoroughly researched Barbie press tour looks—the run of which was so iconic, the duo released a coffee table book titled Barbie: The World Tour. If there’s anything that we know about Mukamal’s styling, it’s that he’s very intentional with his references. For all fans know, two Parker sister sightings in one day could be a playful throwback or a hint at something more (it is the era of the early 2000s reboot, after all).
And the self-references didn’t stop there. At Freakier Friday’s U.K. premiere, Lohan wore a custom lilac metal mesh Ludovic de Saint Sernin gown and a Judith Leiber bag in the shape of a miniature guitar. The look was inspired by the wedding guest dress, originally designed by Mandalay, that her character Anna wears in the finale of the first movie, Freaky Friday. De Saint Sernin took to Instagram to share that creating the dress felt like a teenage dream come true—one that he had been manifesting “for nearly 20 years.”
Though referencing yourself is about as iconic as it gets, Lohan also paid homage to the one and only Carrie Bradshaw at the film’s New York City premiere. The actress wore a fitted Jacquemus dress with a tutu hem and strappy Jimmy Choo Leo heels, just like in the opening sequence of Sex and the City. Mukamal again shared a photo of the carpet and the inspiration side by side, keeping fans on their toes, looking forward to which recreation will be next.
