Comprised of six new silhouettes in black, cream, and olive, the range offers the Dear Frances woman a new addition to her closet—prioritizing timeless, functional design imbued with fine craftsmanship and detail.
Who: Monse and SHEIN
What: Exclusive collaboration
Where: Online at us.shein.com
Why: New York-based label Monse, helmed by Laura Kim and Fernando Garcia, has launched an exclusive collaboration in partnership with SHEIN X, global retailer SHEIN’s hub for supporting independent designers. Mentoring five young designers as part of the project, Kim, Garcia, and the Monse team brought to life a range of ready-to-wear and accessories offering the SHEIN customer high-level design with an accessible price tag as well as supply chain transparency. Monse signatures like deconstructed menswear and asymmetrical details are paired with two original prints (one hand-illustrated by Garcia himself) as an ode to New York and the Monse woman. “The coat, to me, is a perfect piece,” Garcia tells ELLE.com. “It is [a] lightweight trench coat with a deconstructed back, so it strips away the khaki fabric and reveals the ‘lining.’ It’s not only pretty to look at, but it’s also sentimental because it’s almost as if we’re ripping away and exposing the interior—and the interior to us is New York City.” Adds Kim: “It looks good on everyone. It’s a comfy, easy piece to wear to work.” In conjunction with the project, SHEIN made a donation to Dress for Success Greater New York City, which supports women in optimizing their wardrobe for career success with donated workwear, proving that it’s making strides in implementing more sustainable practices and having a greater social impact.
Who: Khaite and Ginori 1735
What: Limited-edition homeware collection
Where: Exclusively online at modaoperandi.com and at Khaite’s Mercer Street flagship and East Hampton outpost
Why: In exciting homeware news, Khaite has joined forces with famed Florentine design house Ginori 1735 to release an eight-piece collection of porcelain dishes, tea accessories, and objets. Drawing upon the label’s resort 2024 print inspired by Ginori’s archives, the pieces feature a lithe lounging woman; some are even sculpted to emulate draping fabric, elegantly bridging the worlds of fashion and home.
