Chanel's Calling This One #CocoCuba
Chanel TwitterChanel shared the invite to their 2017 show on their Twitter just a few days ago, confirming the show would take place at the El Paseo Del Prado in Havana, Cuba, a popular promenade near the city's waterfront. The show is culturally significant because a luxury brand hasn't had a presence in Cuba since the '50s. The hashtag for the evening's events? #CocoCuba.
Fidel Castro's Grandson Did Not Walk in the Show
InstagramWhat started as a rumor turned out not to be just that. While Fidel Castro's grandson, Tony Castro, 19, did not end up walking the runway for Chanel, according to The Guardian, he did attend the show, and the outlet reports, called it "an honor for all Cubans for this big event to take place here."

Chanel faves Stella Tennant, Lindsey Wixson, Baptiste Giabiconi, and Sébastien Jondeau all made the trip to Cuba.
The Collection Was All About Vibrant Color
Olivier SaillantAccording to Chanel's press release: "The palette is inspired by the vibrant baroque facades of the old town: yellow, pink, orange, turquoise, bright green burst and sparkle over the marvelous sequined and embroidered short little dresses, the chasuble-dresses in coral orange embroidered tweed. The same chromatic affirmation goes for the strapless dresses in sequins, with puffed sleeves, with fringes and feathers. The tobacco and Havana tones are reminiscent of the Cuban Picasso, Wifredo Lam. The blacks and the whites are shadowy, cloudy, smoky."
